Thanks Russell, Ian,
the cylinders just outboard from the rocket pods are SPPU-22-01 cannon pods, (some info here):

It is a fact that under equal conditions, large-scale battles and whole wars are won by troops which have a strong will for victory, clear goals before them, high moral standards, and devotion to the banner under which they go into battle.

Calling this build finished:

The fit of the basic model is dreadful and the lack of clearly defined attachment points adds to the problem. The resin parts and decals more than make up for the bad fit of the model. The resin is beautifully done and the decals snuggle down nicely with Mr. mark softer and Mr mark fixer.
Despite the problems encountered during the build the final result makes up for the irritations.
I'll try and make some beauty shots to round off the campaign build this weekend.

Great work Julian! A magnificent piece of modeling there. Don't forget to post photos in the gallery. I believe you are the first one done in the campaign. Russell

Hi Russell, yes, I'll get the photo's up this weekend. I have a Su-25 single seater I want to build at this campaign too: the "poison frog" camo. Think I'll do something else in between to prevent a Sukhoi overdose

Julian, great job on the SU-25 two-seater. I like the fuel spills on the drop tanks.....nice touch. I am going to start mine this weekend and I have changed my mind for the 20th time on the paint scheme......going to do Chad AF desert scheme. I got the color equivalents figured out. Once again great job on your Rook-Built-For-Two.
Best wishes, Ian

Thanks Ian, I'm going to pull something else out of the stash first before I start on the "Poison frog". I'll be following your build

Great build, Julian. I love the camouflage and the slightly worn look.

Hi All,
Some great progress and builds progressing here, I've done some on and off progress on my Su 35.
Other subjects on the desk is the new Revell 72 scale Halifax, an AMT A20b/c Boston/Havoc and a Testors 48 scale FA/18a Hornet. Along with several Hanger Queens that are slowly progressing.

If the resin bits and pieces I ordered from Lucky Model ever show up I'll start on my Hasegawa Su-27.
If they aren't here this weekend I may start on a 1/48 Su-7 this coming week.

Apparently Lucky Model forgot I ever ordered from them so I've started on an old 1/72 Dragon Su-24 kit I have. I'll take some pics and post them soon. I want to put it in Algerian markings. I have some leftover decals from a Fujimi MiG-21 kit I think I can use.

Looking forward to the Su-24 build. Doesn't the 24 resemble an F-111? Russell

It's sort of like an F-111 that someone left out in the rain and it shrunk.

The day after I opened the Su-24 box and got to work, all the parts for the Su-27 showed up in the mail. At a quick glance, the Dragon Su-24 is a dog of a kit. The cockpit is nonexistent, some of the panel lines end abruptly, few of them resemble the real thing (not a big deal for me really) and the ejector racks for the ordinance are nubs on the bottom of the fuselage.
Previous to all this, I started a 1/32 Revell Phantom. The Legend cockpit is giving me fits. And by fits I mean the fit sucks. I actually think the rear seater's instrument panel is lop sided.
So...I may re-evaluate whether I'll build the Su-24 or Su-27.
Jessie, when are we going to see your Super Jet 100 again?

I'm having a few issues with the current coat of primer paint. Once I get that sorted I'll share a few pictures.

I went to my LHS over the weekend and bought this little jewel, and by "jewel" I mean diamond in the rough. And by "diamond in the rough" I mean POS...but it's what I'll be doing for the build, the MasterBox 1/72 Su-17/22 (it was $7.00).

THe first thing to do was get rid of all the access panels and rivet detail, and rescribe the whole thing. I think they let the janitor have a go at cutting the mold for this jem. Not a straight line to be had and rivet holes you could fit a golf ball into.

Grenadier, you are brave to handle that kit. It will be interesting to see what you get from it.
Looking forward to see more.

Thanks Jesper, but I'm not sure if I'm brave or just masochistic...
The wings of the don't-Fitter are assembled and scribed I took a break over the weekend to go to an airshow and cull the herd for future evil-bay sales, so progress is slow.
The fuselage is next. I'll sand off the CA and break out the scribing tool. Cockpit detail is non-existent, the canopy will most definetly be closed.
The plastic on this kit is really soft, but doesn't like Tamiya cement. I had to resort to Tenax to get a good bond between the pieces.
