Just because
tho not technically a night fighter, this particular F6F-5 was assigned to NAS Vero Beach, Florida where it was used to train new Naval aviators on the Hellcat before they transitioned to the -5N
The kit is the Hobby Boss (1/48 naturally) and the second one I've built. I can't recommend it highly enough

Okj, I am getting there, decals on and panel lines done. Just a coat of dull coat, some more weathering, and final dull coat left.

Bruce,
Stick a radome on it and we're good!
Nice looking Mossie Sarge, almost there. In fact, great work everyone!

Michael, as I said, , unfortunately, the -5N is being built by another member of the club, as this is for a group build. Did I mention these models are for a permanent exhibition at the airport that used to be NAS Vero Beach?
Have fun Michael

Great looking Mossie, Kevin.
I cannot seem to read the text under the noseart. Something about moonshine?

Moonbeam McSwine. Quoted from the Aveology decal sheet: "Mosquito FB.VI (series I) HJ719:
As aircraft TH•U “Moonbeam McSwine” flown by F/L Luma of 418 Squadron RCAF"
418 had several Mossies with Lil Abner nose art.

Once the tedium of the stencils was finished, applying the main colour scheme goes quickly.

Jessi, the 'Dog is coming along great! However , is that a trick of the light or did the fuselage stripes give you a wee bit of a problem?

The red stripe twisted itself. I may have used a bit too much Solvaset there, but they have to conform to all the NACA intakes on the fuselage side so there's not much alternative.

All the decals have been finished. I'm at the final assembly stage now.
There remains the landing gear, speed brakes, flaps drop tanks and the canopy, which will be posed open, so it needs some furniture inside.

It looks like we will have twin Twin Stangs in this campaign. Finally getting started on my entry, the markings will be different from Adam's. It is a relatively straightforward kit and the fit I've read is quite good so I'm hoping I will be able to finish in time.

Oh well there are tons of rivets to sand down anyway.....

Great build, Jessica. Looks great and the NMF and the colorful markings go together great for a striking scheme.
Mark, tough luck. Well as long as it is not the clear parts that has your fingerprint and little sanding will save the day.
Looking forward to see more

Hi Guys after finishing my 1/48 Grumman Tigercat my attention tuned to all those wonderful P61 Black Widows being built in this campaign and which happens to be a favorite of mine. Which in turn had me looking at the four kits I have in my stash and I'm sorry to admit three days later I had this ..........
So lets see if I can get it finished before the deadline!
