I see you there...
Richard (Arrrgee), your lot is...
#32: "Pearl Diving", "E komo mai o Hawaii." You're off to the research department now my friend. It's time to build any aircraft that took part in the raid on Pearl Harbour. Either on the American or Japanese side. And here's the kicker, it has to be in correct livery for Dec 7, 1941.
Thank God for that, I have several books on Pearl Harbour and it's a subject I like, I shall have a look around for an accurate kit with correct markings.
I'll update as soon as I have located the right kit.
Rich, off to research

I've had a quick look round, it would seem that the easier kits to get hold of are the Hasegawa A6M2b kits or the brand new Tamiya A6M2b kit both come with Pearl Harbour markings for aircraft involved in the attack.
There is also the Hasegawa B5N2 Kate kits, there is currently a new release with a 1600kg armour piercing bomb, again in markings of a craft used to bomb battleship row.
I would personally like to get hold of the Fujimi Aichi type 99 Val dive bomber, as they also do a Pearl Harbour raider, having said that I would also like to do a P36 in the markings of Lt Phillip M Rasmussen's aircraft, one of the few to get off the ground that day, however the pickings are very slim in 1/72, academy have released one in 1/48, however I would prefer to stick to 1/72.
I'll let you know once I've decided and bought one of the kits, the new tamiya zero kit is quite appealing at the moment.

Richard
Cyberhobby offers a Pearl Harbor Aichi Val in 1/72. Not cheap at around $30-$40. They are named on the box, since there is also a version for a "Midway" Val.
One cheap option is the Vought Kingfisher from Aifix, the red box version I believe includes markings for the plane that went down with the USS Arizona on that day.
There are also a few possibilities if you decide to use this decal sheet. That certainly opens up your options to include the Dauntless, Wildcat, PBY, P-36, or P-40.

I'm afraid the kingfisher didn't actually take part so it's out... Tamiya was due for a new Zero. Post many pics if you choose to go that route.

Thankyou Van,
That is very helpful, I have ordered the new tamiya A6M2b off e-bay for £16 already, but I was thinking of doing multiple kits to properly cover this subject, either a val, kate and zero, or a zero and a P36/40 etc to represent the subject better. I will look at picking up those decals you've found and then I can do a wildcat which I've not done before. Who knows, I may well end up doing a whole bunch of kits!!
Richard, when I get the new zero kit through I'll post some pics so everyone can see what it's like.

Well I got my Dagger. Yikes it's huge! I didn't realize it's fully 33 percent bigger than the Mig 21.
Actually the Dagger comes in at sixty-eight feet four inches, which makes it longer than an F15! This will be my largest (see longest) quarterscale build to date.
This bird was clearly designed in Texas.

Okay, I know I've said I was going to do something Iranian, but after seeing Ben's (Mcleod) choice- the Blohm & Voss P-170- I got to thinking which really, really hurt. After the blinding headache subsided, I decided to do the contra-prop thingy. And my choice is:
Should be an interesting build. I'm looking forward to it. Anyway, Happy Gluing to one and all JT

Ah.. now I see.. It is an American thing.. Contra..
I actually put forward a suggestion to Mr Palmer about a category for aircraft with contra-rotating props, 'Beware the contra-flow', not knowing of the Iranian/Contra thingy, hence my thinking you were choosing another category. And I am getting old.. But at least I have landed a new job!!!

That is a handsome bird there's no denying it. And in 1/48 IT'S HUGE! Really looking forward to seeing that shape up. Are the decal options all for bare metal or can you do a white one?
As for me: I have the dilemma.
Do I do the Dagger in Air Defense grey and the Mig in Soviet stars...
Or the Dagger in Vietnam camouflage and the Mig in NVAF decals..... Decisions!

JollyRoger and wertywertheim have joined our ranks I see. And the Jar takes notice as well.
The sky darkens, birds fly backwards.
It is the Jar.
Paul, your lot is...
#47 Last of the gunfighters! you must build any First Generation Jet fighter!
Yalym, your lot is...
#40 Low hanging fruit! You must build any aircraft with anhedral wings!
