Guido that's a great idea. Hopefully everyone follows suit!

I've made this crude banner to raise awareness. I don't know if members other than the campaign leader are allowed to promote it? But if so please feel free. The more participants we get the more fantastically insane this campaign gallery will be!

Hi, Aeroscalers!
I don't know about you, but have a really hard time recalling every single topic you have been seleced for.
How about every participant adds their campaign description to the member's personal signature? Starting now until the end of this lovely campaign.
That'd make life so much easier.
I'll make a start...
Cheers,
Guido

Great stuff Sven. I'm glad to help expand your horizons now while you're young, I've been slaving over my first Tank for like a year and I'm barely off page 2 in the instructions!

Okay gang, I'm super impressed by the level of involvement in this. Hopefully we'll keep up the momentum.

For my part I've done the maths, and I have time to finish my Venom in time for the start of this campaign, and this is a six monther... and I like that it'll force me to do something different.

So, not to be outdone by Warren, here goes nothing!

The wallpaper peels, fresh fruit instantly turns rotten, marmite becomes palatable...

The Mason Jar of Doom nears...

Richard, your second lot is...

#35: "Cripes its a Convair!" Dammit Jess!! This is another bare metal finish isn't it!!!!

Not necessecelery; the Sea Dart was glossy Sea Blue with yellow all over the place, the F-102 and -106 were Air Defence Grey, and the Cosmo could be 501-109 grey and white, while the 240, 340, 440 and 540 were many colours. Northeast's -880 was yellow and white.

Bare metal? Maybe. Other colours? Maybe. Win? Yes!

Oh this has to be an Encore Delta Dagger! They're the perfect compliment to my delta-winged Mig 21!

This has cemented the finish the Mig must have though, they'll be Superpower counterparts. It'll be a Soviet Mig21F13 from a bomber interception squadron, and a Delta Dagger from a bomber intercept squadron. Ideally with markings from the same year.

Been thinking about choices and came across this idea for another topic:

"It's a disaster": Build any aircraft that is named after a natural disaster, force of nature, or was considered a widdow-maker at some point in their career.

Just a suggestion. of cause the idea could be refinded.

Cheers,
Guido

I think the signature issue depends on which browser you are using. I find that it doesn't display properly in Firefox or Chrome but it does in IE.

Hello all. Just found this website recently and like the idea of doing group builds. Got into modeling seriously approx. 6 months ago after pursuing the hobby a little bit as a kid before giving it up... and I have already finished 7-8 projects, and have built up a nice little stash via Squadron and eBay, enough that I can handle a bunch of these lotto choices without having to get a new kit... I just hoping I don't end up with the folded wings one!

So here I am asking for my lottery destiny.

I wonder if that Spad can be more American patriotic? Roundels are so underspoken.

Yeah, I was wondering what the nationality of the plane was, those roundels are really inconclusive...

In six months?@!?! I should just give you the rest of the jar!

Oh no. I've taken its name in vain. The glass is fogging now, some horrible Lovecraftian tableau reveals itself, impressed upon the glass by some unknown force.

The Mason Jar of Doom.

Van D, your lot is...

#38: "Hellofacopter" Hello helo. Whirlybirds anyone? Eggbeaters don't ya know. etc. etc. You have to build a helicopter! And before you ask. NO OSPREYS!

I see you there...

Richard (Arrrgee), your lot is...

#32: "Pearl Diving", "E komo mai o Hawaii." You're off to the research department now my friend. It's time to build any aircraft that took part in the raid on Pearl Harbour. Either on the American or Japanese side. And here's the kicker, it has to be in correct livery for Dec 7, 1941.

Stefan, you might just win th coveted "most garish" aircraft with that SPAD! I do love what happens when you give an American a can of paint and an aircraft!

Figures that I would end up with one of the only choices that I didn't have a model for. Never done a heli before, this should be interesting...

I generally keep to 1/72 scale for aircraft and after browsing Squadron I've settled on two kits, one shake and bake and the other requiring a lot more extra work (but it was $4).

Going to do either the Hobbyboss AH-64D Longbow Apache or the Heller Alouette III (Gendarmerie version)... Which one gets built will depend on how much extra work I want to put in once the campaign rolls around.

Did they have spray paint back then? I mean aboriginals were using their mouth to spray paint many many millenia ago, but they really had nothing to paint but rock walls and even though the finish is ultra-durable it is not very consistent..

I have changed my mind for the speed record holder phase of this mission and ordered a Tamiya 1/72 Bell X-1. Overall international orange could be a real eye catcher..

Better keep topping up the Jar of Doom Richard as I don't think it will take very long to finish two 1/72 scale planes after I have been building 1/350 ships with the lot for a few years now. No PE to wrestle here.

You are doing a great job with this campaign.

Cheers

Hi folks. My kit arrived today, having travelled around the globe from an eBay vendor in Poland (appropriately), and after being roundly chastised by the minister for war and finance I excitedly opened up the box.

The contents look good, 2 main sprues, 2 smaller sprues, a single A4 sheet folded for instructions and markings, and a small frame of PE

but unfortunately there is a piece missing from one of the sprues, circled in red here . . .

The sprues were still sealed in their original plastic, so this is not the fault of the vendor, but another part (the seat) was loose in the bag having broken from the sprue at some stage. The missing part is quite large, being the same as the other engine cowl part just below the red oval, so I would certainly have noticed it if it was loose in the bag.

I am planning to do an in-box and build review of this kit, I don't believe that we have one here on Aeroscale, so I will email Mirage Hobby marketing department and test out their customer service levels.

Cheers, D

Excellent idea and good reminder. I'm always too excited when I open a kit to think of doing an in-box review, although I use the reviews on AeroScale when one is available-- this is how those voids in the review list get filled. I haven't even ordered my kit, but I looked for it and it wasn't in the reviews, so it makes sense for me to write one up and take some pics for everyone who comes after me.
As for your missing part, seeing how it's one of two halves, if Mirage's customer service doesn't come through for you, you can show us how to duplicate a part. I keep reading about the process myself, but haven't worked up the nerve to try it yet.
Thanks,
Sean H.

Damian you picked the filet of the Polish Aircraft industry. Love it. Can't wait to see it.

Van, you have felt the cold hand of fate. Welcome to the campaign!

Everyone else. Watch out. The jar is growing hungry for more victims!
