Too much Schapps?

One thing you notice with this campaign, how many people are out of their comfort zone. The subjects I have in the stash seem to fit quite a few other peoples models, but not mine. Then poor Erik gets Sopwiths and never built a biplane! This is quite entertaining watching people's reaction to the lottery.

Too much Schapps?
I ne'er appeared to me, but it's possible.
However Old Scotch Malt Whiskey is much more in my Southern Comfort zone!
Guido
PS.: I think it is great we get drawn from our comfort zone. I think this is what is getting folks excited about this campaign in particular!

That is worth a jingle, isn't it?
I am having an 18 year old Glenfiddich on it!
Cheers,
Guido

Eirik, I didn't disqualify it, so it's in. The intention of that theme was to build a non-colonial aircraft, and I forgot about Rhodesia. Which I would have to consider a colony state.

Quick question Richard, does the plne I build for the speed record build be required to be in the markings of the actual plane that set the record, or can I build, for example, a standard US Navy F4D?
Cheers Sir

No I'm not such an ogre
Uh oh...
As I type this obsidian liquid fills the room. I feel it now, the presence of the jar.
Guido, your lot is...
#39: "NASA to meet you!" Oh boy, you're going to be on the cutting edge. Build any aircraft used by NASA. Extreme preference to having the NASA markings, but it may not be possible.
Veleho, your lot is...
#18: "CATOBAR!!" You've lucked out with this one! It's your chance to build anything CATOBAR. So it must have hooks and it must take long walks off short piers.

Hi, Guido. That's me. And really thanks for the info. Now, I can add a F-84 to my choices. Woooo. Man, I started with nothing concerning Iran, and now my cup runnth over. And, everyone seems to really, really like this campaign. Lots of info, lots of chatter, lots of soda and .....? Plastic rocks! All the best. JT

Fair enough. I realised I had nothing worthvile in the stash for the task at hand, so I added a Minicraft Mig-17 to my latest order from my trusty Czech supplier. A quick search proved there should be plenty of doable schemes, even with my somewhat limited set of spare decals. (One plane which I found photo-references for was a Mig-17 in Guinea-Bissau colors. No funky camo, but it has been left in "storage" outdoors since the early 90's so it could be an interesting weathering project.)

I think I have chosen my prey:
Fits one of my latest stash acquisitions, too!
Can someone point me to a source for 1/48th Decal sheet with US numerals and letters from the cold war era?
Anyway there is still a whole lot of time left, so I mivght sway into another direction by the time get on the go.
Cheers,
Guido

Guido, that's a beauty, but I know what you mean. With that much time before the campaign starts, the mind can wander...

After some careful research I found my ideal, Special Hobbys Hawker Tempest II and they do IAF decals as well. The kit may not be brilliant but I'll see. The Polikarpov I-15 went together ok.

Hi, Aeroscalers!
I don't know about you, but have a really hard time recalling every single topic you have been seleced for.
How about every participant adds their campaign description to the member's personal signature? Starting now until the end of this lovely campaign.
That'd make life so much easier.
I'll make a start...
Cheers,
Guido
