Damian you picked the filet of the Polish Aircraft industry. Love it. Can't wait to see it.
Van, you have felt the cold hand of fate. Welcome to the campaign!
Everyone else. Watch out. The jar is growing hungry for more victims!
How long until this campaign starts again? I could have ten builds lined up before it starts! I did 12 or so for the last KoTS campaign

Figures that I would end up with one of the only choices that I didn't have a model for. Never done a heli before, this should be interesting...
I generally keep to 1/72 scale for aircraft and after browsing Squadron I've settled on two kits, one shake and bake and the other requiring a lot more extra work (but it was $4).
Going to do either the Hobbyboss AH-64D Longbow Apache or the Heller Alouette III (Gendarmerie version)... Which one gets built will depend on how much extra work I want to put in once the campaign rolls around.
Van, don't overlook the Helicopter Gunships campaign coming up later. I was thinking of a 1/72 Apache Longbow myself for that one, and if you don't save yours for then, I'd be watching your build of it on this one. Reading Aeroscale reviews of other Hobby Boss 1/72 attack helicopters, the Apache and the Cobra, that looks like it should be a good kit. You know, someone should do a review of THAT one...
Cheers!

I was thinking about using the Apache for this campaign and the Alouette III for the Rescue Me campaign.

Solid choices.
I've found that for any kit you buy, there's always a campaign for it just around the corner.

Except for this one. Which detects what's in your stash and selects something different!

So very very true Mr Palmer... do you have five daughters? But let's not go there shall we...
The first victim has arrived..
First look shows engraved panel lines with a few trenches, but the thing that really stood out is that the decals appear to be a little too bright in their colours.. Oh well, as this is to be OOB I will try and one them down a little.
I was going to build the Grumman Ford as my Record Holder, but I changed my mind and the other victim is in the post.
Cheers all

Or you could talk to
Bill Burns and get a proper set of decals. There are 10 to choose from, most of which are for the Mk.4. Those Hobbycrap decals will be no end of frustration for you so they're better off left unused.
The cockpit tub is much too shallow. It's not so bad if you use the kit seats, but if you go for aftermarket seats you'll discover how awful it really is.

Thanks for that guys, but there is one problem.. I only paid about $10 for the kit and Bill wants $17.50 minimum for the decals. Sorry but I can't see the value in a small decal sheet for that much and being unemployed at the moment I will just have to make do with the Hobbycraft ones and whatever I can find in the decal box of doom.

I've just trawled through my decal dungeon and found some roundels for your Clunk, you can at least replace those : )
They're a bit yellowed, so some exposure to that hot summer Southern sun will be needed to sort them out : )

Hi Warren.
I hope your job situation works out soon for you!
One thing to help with the kit decals would be a coat of Microscale liquid decal film.

Jessie and Richard,
I really appreciate your wishes and help.
I have decals galore to check (left overs) and will get back to you if I need extras. We haven't seen the sun here for weeks due to the wet arriving. Rain rain and more rain.
Thanks again lady and gentleman..
Cheers from Downunder

I have some ancient Esci decals for a Sabre but two of the maple leafs are way off centre and the detail is not good. Then I have the decal sheet from a Matchbox CF-101 Voodoo, but there are not very well detailed either.
This led me to another thought, can anyone think of a kit that provides you with the Canadian decals (roundels) I require that I think may be less than the cost of one of the sheets previously mentioned. This way I would get another kit and the decals I need.
Or, thirdly, how much do you want for your decals Miss Jessie?
Regards
Warren

I saw a sheet that was just various RCAF roundels somewhere... Trying to find it.
Every. Single. Time. I go to the warplane heritage museum (which is often) I sit in the CF100 and move the ailerons and everything and generally pretend to be tracking a bear through dense cloud lining up the cannon on on radar. This subject is pretty close to my heart.

I am sure you will appreciate the fit and engineering of the kit if it is one of their kits from the last 8 years or so. Don't listen to all the naysayers, I am sure many people out there have a thing against Trumpeter just because they are growing so quickly, or because some of their kits have exaggerated surface detail. It looks great under a few coats of paint.
Cheers

I'd have to agree. The Trumpeter Mig21 I have, review is in the pipe, looks amazing. It's shockingly well detailed molds.

Good to hear. Oh by the way I thought of another lottery 'prize' if it is needed...
