I began work on my Hobbycraft A-4F "Super Fox". The decals from Furball arrived in the mail and I will be doing a Super Fox from the Flying Gators of VMA-142, USMC-Reserves. Cockpit installation was a total soup sandwich due to a lack of locater pins or guides but it got installed, nonetheless. I will be adding a resin seat from a Classic Airframes TA-4J to help out the interior a little bit. The rest of the assembly was trouble free and Hobbycraft provides all the detail parts I needed for the Super Fox conversion. I will add shims over the intakes before I add the intake covers to give them the illusion of being the wider mouth Super Fox intakes, since the ones in the kit are for an E-model.

Best wishes, Ian

So far, it is the best Airfix kit I've ever built and it banishes memories of some of their absolute shockers of old.

The Lightnings, along with the Spitfire 24/Seafire 47 were without doubt the best Airfix kits ever until the arrival of Hornby's new efforts in the past year or so. Even though they're 10 years old now, they can still be considered State of the Art.

Airfix's new Seafire F.XVII is a gem too. Probably some of the best recessed panel lines I have seen in awhile.

That one being one of the new ones I was referring to. It's really nice to see Airfix come back to being one of the serious contenders as opposed to endlessly re-issuing old kits they way they were doing in the '80s and '90s.

Ian I picked up the same set for my scooter from VMA 322 !!! They were part of the MAG det that I was attached to during my time in the Marine Corps reserve! The decal sheet looks great and I cant wait to work on that one too!

Howdy Y'all,
Here is the kit I will be working on. Hopefully I will enter it into our club's "On the Water" contest later this year.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Very cool Brian!! I was torn between the -322 jet and the -142 jet but I decided on the Gators since I had already built an F/A-18A+ from -142 using the Superscale sheet. This Furball decal sheet is really awesome. Deciding which ones to build is the hard part!

Best wishes, Ian

Hi Don,
Watch out for the fit of the wings to the fuselage. Spend time making sure it fits well before committing the parts to glue, otherwise you'll end up with an ugly step. Ask me how I know...

Howdy Jesse,
This is my third attempt at this kit. I don't look forward to the copious amounts of glue trying to get a good bond.
Take care,

Hi ladies and gents,
This is my first aeroscale GB - and im really looking forward to it. I notice some fantastic work already - and some great subjects!

This is my entry - the Tamiya 32 scale Mustang - Im going to build OOB - because its laced with detail - and I just want to enjoy it not sweat it Only thing i plan is some AM decals - and I need to choose quickly as this will dictate the options and variant.

here just some qualification pics taken last night against this thread -

I will really try and keep up with everyones project - some real choice kits here !

best
Mark

Here are a couple of snaps of the P-38 I'm doing. I want to add seatbelts before installing the seat and headrest.

I have built the internal subassemblies of the Salamander and undercoated them. Nice easy build so far.

A little more progress on the Salamander. Some photos of the cockpit before the fuselage halves are glued together.

John, your work on the interior is exceptional, to say the least. Looks as if you could actually get in it and fly it. Well done sir.

Best wishes. ian

There is definitely quite a variety of great builds starting up. I could probably seek out something odd or unusual for my build, but Ive decided to build a tamiya fw 190d-9. Ive never built a long nose variant before and with the number of builds underway I think a "shake and bake" is in order. Ive already decided to save the TD resin cockpit for another time and build her with the canopy closed. Not sure which markings from the sheet Ill be using yet, Ive wanted to build Dortenmann's machine but the mismatched late war paint schemes are calling my name as well

Don't want to make you feel old Jessica, but its more like 15 years old!

John - really nice cockpit there

And here's my entry. My wife is always moaning "I wouldn't mind you buying all those models, if you only built them!" So I'm going to be building what she bought me for Christmas - the Tamiya 1/48 F-16 with the late Afterburner Decals sheet for the F-16 Aggressors based at RAF Bentwaters in the late 80s

A rare subject, the only F-16s ever to be based in the UK, the 527th Aggressor Squadron was only operational for 12 months before disbanding when the Cold War ended(damn you Gorbachev!!) Its also a rare subject for Viper geeks, being an early block 30 with the GE engine but with the "small mouth" inlet of the P+W variants.

With all the Mustangs I'm building, my Mustang collection is threatening to exceed my Spitfire collection, so I'm in with AZ's lovely Spit IX in 1/72. This is from the JoyPack, so no kit decals. I'll be using an EagleCal sheet to do YO-R of 401 Sqn RAF
