Rob, cant wait to see the f-16 finished, that was always a sharp looking scheme
Mark, great looking mustang in one of my favorite scheme. if I have to opportunity to build that kit in the future ill be doing one of Chuck Weavers mustangs as well, perhaps with the different kill marks or with the post war Buzz number under the wing, just to change it up
The Dora is DONE! was having problems getting good pics this evening so here are 2 finish shots for the thread and Ill take some nicer pics tomorrow when I have more time and maybe some daylight.
Its been a lot of fun, Im fairly pleased with how she turned out. I misaligned the "wave" on the starboard side and let it go because I didn't think it was terrible and didn't want to risk messing up the JG26 bands. I probably should have. Im also tempted to pull a mulligan on the spinner sometime in the future. Thankfully I had extra spiral decals. I should try masking them in the future or get some more practice. Maybe if I come across a corrected spinner/prop Ill do a nicer job and swap it out. I wont loose sleep though, its all practice for the next kit

Good looking models! The paint job on that F-16 looks really sharp, looking forward to seeing it finished.
Great looking finish on that Dora, Mike! Regarding the possibility of messing up the fuselage bands, I assume you used decals for them instead of painting them on?

Thanks Eetu, I did use decals. Its not all that bad especially since they are on opposite sides it doesn't stand out to anyone but the most observant. Having seen such mistakes made when I was in the military during peace time and this represents an a/c in the final months of the war, its quite plausible to me. Im already hard at work on a P-51A with the lessons of this build fresh in my mind.
...But I already cant wait to work on my next 190

Hi all,
what a nice campaign finish here!
@ Mike: Great looking 190!
@ Rob: Good paint job! It is always a great challenge to paint a flawless non-military scheme. Your F-16 is on the right way I think.
@ Eetu: Your Draken is just great! I followed your entries with high interest as I have built both Hasegawa´s 48 and 72... both are nice kits.
Thanks and best regards,
Sebastian

Good taste indeed, I got my eye on those decals already, just waiting for the right deal on the kit to come around

Thanks Guys!
When I first looked at the directions when I started to paint I thought I was going to have trouble with the scheme but as soon as I started masking it turned out to not be that hard.
I had to go back and touch up some of the white where I got some over spray
all that is left now is the blue on the gear doors.
Cheers Rob.

Wow, you go away for a week and there's a flurry of outstanding models finished! Hard to choose a favourite, but Torchy's instrument panel stands out for me, especially in the spirit of "anything goes"

Well, here is the point my 1/72 Air Lines (Frog) MS406 has arrived at. Decal attempt part II. After trying the original decals I tried a set from Hasegawa, All was going well till the last national insignia on the lower part of the wing. The decal stuck to everything except for the wing. Here is the decal after multiple attempts. I will not give up even though over due. On to the tail and canopy.

Brent, fortunately the damaged decal is from the underside, wont be as noticeable if you piece it together or find some spares. Hope to see your 406 finished soon, French aircraft don't get enough play.
Rob, looks like all the hard work masking is paying off, she is looking really good!
My Dora is back on the bench undergoing landing gear reinforcement with some brass pins. Think im going to do this from the outset as I always seem to be pinning a leg back onto each a/c I build

Thanks Mike!
Well the decals are on but the had quite a bit of yellowing and even a couple of days in the sun didn't help much
there are just a couple of little details left and it will be finished
considering I started this over 30 years ago and I damaged the fuse stripping the old paint, it came out alright and I do like how well the masking came out.
Cheers Rob.

Rob, that's really nice, very sharp!
Regarding the decals, I should have mentioned it earlier, but Vingtor do a decal sheet for prototype and demonstrator F-16s.
