That's a nice choice Jess,
I have a couple of kits I could enter for this group build, I'm not sure which one I will run with at the moment, I have several F-15 kits from Hasegawa and also a couple of F-16's.

I will probably get an aftermarket exhaust set for whichever one I do anyway.

I would like to see one of them done as well, but the painting that has to be done is very intimidating!! I thought the aggressor schemes would be decals, but it's all paint!
I was hoping to leave them for a time when I have lots more time on my hands, but I might give one of them a go as they do look beautiful.

And my entry, which can be considered interesting in that if it had served in the Air Force it was built for it would have been known by the name of a weapon rather than the Bird of Prey the design was originally named for.
I refer of course to the Hawk 81's of the AVG, which were diverted from RAF-destined Tomahawk stocks.

And a little futzing and here we are:

Going to need a bit of filler on the nose because of the inserts, and the wing roots will be extra fun, but overall this is looking like a sweet little kit.

Adam,
I built one of these for the fighters group build, be careful with the protruding gun barrels, I knocked one off during my build! Having said that it's a great little kit.

Looking good Steph can't wait to see the harrier decaled and weathered!
I'm tossing up which kit to do for this campaign, I have several choices so I thought I'd see what the rest of the campaign thought and go from there. The choices (so far) are a 1/72nd Sm79 Sparviero serie I by Italeri, 1/72nd Ki-43 Hayabusa by Hasegawa, 1/32 scale kit of the aircraft by the same manufacturer, 1/48th Harrier AV-8B markings to be decided on (no decals with the kit), 1/48 P-36A Hawk by Esci/Ertl, 1/48 CR42-LW Falco by Italeri and last but not least a 1/32nd scale Bae Hawk T MkIa by Revell (Red arrows boxing). So anybody got an idea as to what they'd like to see built from those choices?

Just as an After thought the Fw190 was called Wurger (Shrike) by the Germans, was this an official name? And can it be therefore entered into this campaign?

as long as its the official and proper name then its ok

Hi all,
after reading a book about the Falklands War I could not resist any more and started Italeri´s 1:72 Harrier GR Mk. 3.
So count me in.
Regards,
Sebastian

Hi Dave, thanks for your welcome!
Well, this is the kit:

BTW: in the background you see the Spiegel Online article about Nürnberg´s victory in the Bundesliga soccer game versus Mainz 05 on April 7th. Just for those who are interested.
Despite its age it looks good at the first glance.
But my kit has a lot flash and inaccourate moulding
It took some time to get the nose into shape:

Also the overall fit is not that good:

When I read articles about this kit in other forums or magazines people seem not to have the same difficulties like I do. I read something about
- good fit,
- goes together without any problems
- no filler required
- built in three days...
Hmmm... sometimes I feel sooo tired... maybe I am just too stupid...
More updates soon!
Regards,
Sebastian

@Sebastian: I seriously doubt you're "stupid" Sebastian there are so many variables when a kit is moulded that no two are ever exactly alike and as the moulds age the difference between kits can widen markedly. I would suggest that this kit simply required a little more effort to get it to go together and you've certainly done this very well. I look forward to seeing what you do with it and seeing it completed!

Chris, thanks for your kind words, I have just ruined the canopy with glue

(Hey... I am surprisingly relaxed about this... there is something wrong with me...)
Need a replacement. Have already contacted the manufacturer whether it is possible to send me the sprue with the transparent parts. Should be no problem I think.
