Very happy to see your progress. I sent more models off today. (Allen & Sam, you're next! Phil, you too.)

I can't decide what to build. I gave Russell a Dragon Ki-61; it has some P/E and is a neat lil' model of one of my favorite 'planes. I also have his Ta 152 models, a long and a short wing version. Russell thought the Aoshima Ta 152 was the best one, maybe it? Or maybe I'll finish his P-51. Or maybe as many as I can during the campaign!

I'll send this forum to his brother & sister and to his close friends. I am certain they will be thrilled. I know am profoundly touched by popularity of this undertaking.


thanks fred, be sure to let me know what the postage cost are.
i'm literally starting work on the 280 as i post this as well!

As for my build, I'm only as far as beginning to clean parts up. Immediately, time is my enemy; I'm having trouble finding build time. But, I'm expecting that to come soon.

Well next I'll work on the internal weapons bay and wheels too.
I would love to start working on that this week...

A few years ago I came with a simple method, I disciplined myself to work a few minutes ( 10 or 20 ) on 1 or 2 kits, everyday.
Even if it's just take some plastic off the sprue and clean it.
By the end of the week I've worked much more than I expected..

A great idea. I'll try that. I get stymied if I don't think I can dedicate at least an hour.

That is a neat idea. These days I also seldom get more than a few minutes free and wait for that ideal time when I can sit at the workbench for a "proper session" - which of course never happens.

The kit that I ordered arrived a couple of days ago:

This is a fantastic looking kit. The same guy that designed this designed the 1/24 scale kit and this is why I have decided to build it for this campaign; I will be also using it to develop camouflage masks, in readiness for the launch of the big one Apart from using masks for the camo all of the markings will be painted on too, of course I will be finishing it in the box top markings of 247 Sqn; 247 is my number (issued by the queen )

From the looks of it this will be an enjoyable build. I have several 1/72 scale kits on the go and they are being built with wheels up, so that they can be displayed on the Airfix multi stands, in flying configuration. This is because of the small space that I usually have when I have a trade stand at shows.

Hi again

I got a bit more done on my Ju 88 today. It took a bit of heavy sanding to get the wings to match the chord of the root fairings (one was worse than the other - not far short of a scale foot out...), but it's beginning to come together. I should have the basic airframe to show soon.

Here are my two kits to enter, though only one may qualify as Russell had started the other. No date stamp on the photo, but I don't cheat, and who could on a memorial build?





I have started painting the interiors of both and I will post more photos of my progress.

Russ, there's no restriction against started kits, especially kits Russel started. Our objective is to get them finished

Paul, Russel's biggest rule was to build models and have fun doing it. He wouldn't possibly object to your Vulcan. C'mon in, the water's fine

Hello Rowan. Thank You for Your trust in me, but to be honest Im not sure I would be able to do it. I never did a review of a kit before and my photographing skills are not so good, but the major problem is I have so little time at the moment I will be happy if I can finish the campaign on time as it is. I will however try to cover the progress with as many information about the kit as possible and when finished I can upload them also in a separate thread.

For the moment I was only able to do some painting of the "office". The fit of the kit parts is great so far, but there are some small pieces which need a little more care and attention for example the pilots pedals. Given the complecity of the cockpit I spend a lot of time with painting it. Fortunatelly there are some nice pictures of the real cockpit from the planes salvagen in Norway.

After some paint and Future I managed to get the instrument decals on It's been some time since I have used decals for the instruments and it would be nice if they fit where they are supposed to go even trimming off the carrier they still did not fit well.

And a pic of some of what I plan on using with the kit.
