I got all the masking for the final color done, made more work for myself freehanding it to start. I shot the final color and there is a small touch up left for the tan.

Cheers Rob.

I'm glad to see that your workbench looks like mine, I also have a russian tank lurking between some aircraft, with M1114 seats and JSU tracks...

@Sascha

Nice Tornado, didn't see one of those in years..

@Naseby

Very nice work on that cockpit.

Thanks for the comment John. I put on the wings and the rudder. The fit on the wings was preaty good, but not ideal, as can be seen in the pictures.

Naseby-----The -88 looks good thus far.

I worked on the wings and nacelles to my Lanc. There are significant fit issues with the inboard nacelles. The lattice side walls are too high and if installed as is, will completely throw the fit of the nacelles out of whack. I cut them down to make them flush with the bottom of the wing, which helped. Also, the back wall of the gear bay is way oversize and had to be sanded down so it would fit. Now for the other wing!

Best wishes,

Ian

John,

I masked and resprayed the areas that needed touch-ups but in my haste I got some overspray under the mask and created more work for myself. not much but it is annoying and completely my own doing.

Cheers Rob.

With all the masking tape removed still a couple of touch-ups but not too bad.

Cheers Rob.

A little more work on such a little model.

Now to prime and paint. The rigging has me worried, but I will deal with it then.

Almost finished with the Javelin. Today I neatened up a few edges on the paintwork, and scratched 4 FOD covers. Tomorrow, I'll spray on a coat of Future, do the very small amount of decaling, and finally add the pitot tubes.

Keep up the good work everyone - cheers!

... and I'm done!

In this shot, you can see the lack of undercarriage bays. I'm not going to worry about that though, it's just a sign of this kit's vintage (1955). I have left the squadron markings off, as I have finished it as the 4th prototype, which the kit was based on.

That's it for now, I will be back with another build for this campaign when my bench clears a bit. Cheers!

Well done, Lee. Even though it's a vintage kit, it still looks like a really nice model.
Please don't forget about putting photos into the Gallery

All the progress I see here is putting more pressure on me to make as much progress as possible with the limited time I have. The upper part of the fuselage and the engines were finished as can be seen in the pictures. The fit of the engines is generally good, but the upper part of the fuselage didnt fit so well. This was so far probably the biggest dissapointment of this kit.

Lee----Fine looking Javelin.

Naseby----Your 88 is shaping up nicely.

Almost ready to primer the Lancaster. The fit of the wings into the fuselage is so good that they will be painted, weathered and decaled separately.

Best wishes,

Ian

Ian, the Lancaster is one impressive plane, Iwill have to get one in the future. Its a shame they dont do one in 1/48.
Let me share some more pictures of the Junkers. One more problem with the kit is that the aft-firing machinegun in the gondola under the fuselage is missing a shiled. I added one according to pictures I found. The fit of the clear parts is satisfactory althou a bit commplicated. I cut out some material from inside the engines to make them fit properly to the wing, but as You can see in the end is the fit excellent.

The black is now applied to the Lanc. Post shading was also applied to reflect the extreme weathering on these airframes. Now for some Dark Earth and RAF Green.

Best wishes,

Ian

Mal, does that Tiffy come with all that interior or are the gun bays aftermarket?

Nito, the F-106 and the Su-15 make a neat side-by-side.
