I only wish I could do that. Unfortunately, I'm somewhat too shaky to share the experience. For me, my eyes and my overworked hands are whats going first.

It's a nice little set, love the Red Arrows so I'm enjoying making one. I've always done the painting first, become a bit of a habit since the first tutorial I read recommended painting first.

The next one I make though, think I'm going to try it the other way, assembly first and then painting and see which one I prefer.

I shifted in 6th gear , decals are on and ready for some weathering ! I should have this done by the end of the day if all goes well .





You will note that the star and bar decal is on the wrong side , this was an opps

Well she is finished ! I also thought that this would be perfect for how I do my panel line wash with pastels and did up a tutorial . Russell has given us much why not have his kit be a part of it .

Pershading was done with a very dark gray . I didn't go heavy with this except for around the gun panels . Under side was sprayed Tamiya light grey and the OD is Testors Model Master Acrylic thinned with their own brand . Old Crow markings are from a left over Tamiya 72 scale kit , rest of the decals are from the kit . Panel lines got a pastel wash and once sealed further weathering was done using pastels and paint chipping done followed by a final seal of dull coat shot through the airbrush .

Finally I can start within the next days with this nice kit. It's an ex Hasegawa and should give me not much trouble, though over 120 parts is quite a lot for a 1/72 kit. Oh, and for the decal option I go with the box art ....

I only found out that Russell had passed away yesterday.
A great shame, he was always around and we often exchanged information and encouragement in the various forums.

So, I'm definately up for building something from the stash for Russell.
It'll be 1:72, it'll be straight OOB and I'm going to have fun doing it.
I'm sure he'd like it that way

Terri, awesome work on the Mustang. Old Crow is one of my favourite schemes.

I started a little work on the Vulcan shuttle tonight and I remembered why I had packed it back into the stash to begin with. Namely the terrible fit of the warp-nacelles. Cross section they are a hexagonal and an end cap fits onto the rear. Well neither the nacelles or end caps match each others shape very well. There is also a very noticeable step between the two nacelle halves on the bottom. I attacked them with a file followed by wet and dry paper. An hours work has still left a lot to be desired so more filler was plastered on. Round 2 tomorrow.

The paint for this red arrow scratches off way too easily when doing the panel lines so I've decided to leave them until I find an alternative way of doing them (use a mechanical pencil to do them usually)

Other than that, it's going well.

Can't post any pics since my digital camera has gone haywire. Will post when I get it fixed

I know I may be shouted down for this but man if there isn't an angle this thing doesn't look ugly from.

The Jug is a beast Richard. Like putting wings on a Freightliner and stickin' eight fifties in it. Always thought the Razorback looked much more evil than the bubble-top, though. Your build is shaping up nicely.

Oh,Oh! I think I heard Nigel and Damian dropping their gloves!!

While waiting for Russell's kit to arrive over the pond, I've made a start on a TR-1A. I don't have the time to do any major sessions at the bench so i've been trying 10 minutes here and there and here is the progress for the last couple of weeks.

There is some slight damage, but should be fixable





I'm only doing a basic paint on the cockpit as this will be sealed up (due to the vac form canopy) and you won't be able to see much.

For 10min here and there, Allen, I think your doing great. Wonderful.

I'm actually working under the same set of rules, with slightly longer than 10min sessions. More like 30 min sessions during the day and finding myself exhausted in the night for reasons other than modelling..
So I'm taking peoples good advice, and trying to learn the assembly line technique without compromising quality. It seems to be working well for the modelling, however, I have to force myself to take photos (a lot of work, really).

Everything will work out; I'm sure.

This will be my entry. Just wound up my last project, so my workbench is ready and waiting for this baby







With just two sprues, this should be a quick build "famous last words in all likelihood)
