Group,
Flaps set; gear down; rolling off the perch, holding Alpha and steady airspeed... . The campaign ends tomorrow and "Terrible Terrier" is lacking only the nose gear doors and pitot tube (no pix - gotta go to bed for work in the a.m.). A couple areas on the nose to touch up. Coming down final - hope I don't have to go-around!
Gonzalo, excellent Berkut! I wish USAF/USN/USMC adopted such cool camo schemes!

I sure hope you get that Berkut into the gallery, Gonzalo. That's certainly a great place for it.
I did manage to get the decals on. It was with so much grief that I questioned whether I would finish by the deadline. Most wanted to break apart and were nursed on; some are on in 3 parts. The smaller worded stencil types did break-up and are not salvageable.
Only the landing gear to go, plus some small tough up paint.
The lead sled is going into the gallery tomorrow afternoon.

hello all, i finally managed to take some decent pics of the 280 on my new background/photo booth that are fit for the gallery.
@ stephen- there are a set of lines that could be square doors in the lower fuselage, but they also match with the other panel lines along the fuselage, this photo shows what i'm talking about -
anyway, heres better pics-

Thanks for getting the He.280 into the gallery , Phil. She's a wonderful addition.
I see there's a BerKut in there now, too. Well done Gonzalo.
Just waiting for my gear to dry and set on the CF-100. After work today, its photo time.

Ben,
The link to the gallery transports one to a forum REPLY window.
You have to work today, too?
Phil, the He 280 was a nicer looking airframe than I remembered!

Ben,
Russell had terrible times with Minicraft decals of his airliners. I don't recall his experience with Hobbycraft; my only such experience was their (shameless rip-off of the Monogram) F-82 - they were awful!
Other H.C. models I've seen built seemed to have no trouble, though. Guess you and I are just the lucky ones!

Just not the best of painting and decal days today.
The decals were on and while moving the model to do the final wash, I managed to knock off the canopy and scratch it. Sanded it down and glued it in place, but as the glue is still wet, I cant finish the canopy frame yet.

Gonzalo, great work on the Berkut. I imagine that would have been the camouflage used had the type gone into production as a fighter.
Fred, the F-80 looks great. Sometimes these elderly kits can turn out surprisingly well with a lot of work.
Ben, the Cannuck is coming along nicely. It's not the prettiest of jets but I'm half tempted to go out and buy one. It does look like a cross between a Meteor and an F-89 with the intakes from a Buccaneer.
Phil, they certainly do look like the gear doors.
Eric, sorry to hear about the canopy mishap. It's coming along very nicely.
My build has stalled. I ended up out of the house for the last few days so have only had this afternoon at the workbench. This is how the Surak is looking at the moment;
I've found that some watered down PVA glue is helping the decals a lot, but it's still a slow process. Hoping to do plenty more over the next few nights.

Thanks for the heads-up on the link, Fred. To understand why its like that, you have to read my signature panel below.
Anyway, with the touch-up paint still drying, the finished CF-100 Mk.IV, Cold Lake, AB., 1957. At least according to HobbyCraft.
Next step is to get some photos into the gallery without messing that up.

While it was drying, SWMBO knocked it off the sill and somehow managed to step on it.

Eric, very sorry about the canopy and decals. I had a mini-boo boo, too.
Stephen, Surak is looking good!
Ben, glad the Canuck is ready for flight!

Eric, Stephen, and anyone else whose closing in on finishing; perhaps requiring some more hours to do it justice. Don't sweat the deadline. So long as you are complete within a reasonable time over the next days, you'll get your ribbon.
Absolutely grand projects coming out of this campaign. Shows true respect for our deeply missed friend.

Perfect, Fred. Absolutely beautiful.
Don't forget to place a photo in the gallery .
Notice how I cleverly tried to pull that trick again. Hope it works this time.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I thank you all for honoring Russell through this campaign. I will let his brother and sister, Charlotte and Duncan, know there are many wonderful tributes here. It will mean a lot to them.
As it will also Russell's dear friends:
Dave, Russell's friend and college professor, and Kyle-David, Dave's son,
Ken, Russell's friend at Bays Mountain, friend of Russell since the late 1970s,
Sherry & Danny, also long-time friends of Russell, who owned the hobby shop in which first met Russell almost 20 years ago.
And so many others. Thank you all.

Alright then, I was able to issue 21 awards for completion:
20 - Went to those who's finishes are in the gallery
1 - To the person who had no space left, but, did finish
And a personal thank-you to the 2 people who put more than one model on the table.
If I left out anyone, just let me know. Also, if you place a finish into the gallery with a week or so, you'll be getting the award.
So, roughly 46% of entries did go the distance, which I feel is an excellent outcome. Well done all

Nice to look through the finishers, well done everybody. I have had 6 months away from modelling due to a family illness and time is not plentiful, but the Victor is still there, begging to be finished.I will try and finish it on the Hangar Queens campaign, it will still be for Russell but I'm sure he would understand.

Andrew,
I believe he would. I actually have a few of his hanger queens - looking a couple right now. I was going to finish Russell's B-29 for the campaign but I damaged it irreparably. So I broke it open, harvested the many crew compartment details, and set them aside to include in my B-29.

To All,
Some of you so thoughtfully and generously sent some extra money with your shipping to help others with shipping, or to contribute to a memorial at Bays Mountain Park - so important to Russell.
Today I delivered the donation:
Thank you all.

And so the 'Russell Anderson Memorial Campaign' has come to a close, however, the memory of the man will not soon be forgotten here on the Kitmaker network.
I'm quite certain his name will be brought up from time to time during modelling discussion. It's also sure that those who see the ribbon on members award list will know exactly what it is, and be able to tell it's story to those who don't.
Thanks to those who worked to place their efforts into the gallery even though they might not usually build in that scale; thank you Jessica for the ribbon design; and especially, thank you, Fred, for your efforts sending kit packages, your wisdom in this campaign, and your continued efforts in donation delivery. Well done!
A virtual toast Aye!

A toast to Russell !!
I build the F-106 for this one but I found an early thread in which Russell's helped me pick a Su-21 Flagon, so I bought one and build it for the Trumpeter's Campaign.
In a plastic cosmic karma, I managed to finish both this year !!
I also would like to send a and a big thanks to Frederick for making this possible.
