John, Nice work on the radiator grills. I also like the emery board, wood block, and painters tape JIG. I would never have thought of it, I now look at my work station differently now. Thanks for the tip.

Bob,
You're most welcome. On first pass I didn't think it would work too well, but turns out it did quite well. I think it will really help on the Hasegawa kit, as the booms look a bit more flimsy on that kit!

John, I have the HOBBY BOSS P-38 and the top to bottom assembly is great.

John,
I feel your pain. I do love me the P-38, but I have yet to find a kit that's easy to assemble. Probably why Tamiya hasn't done one, no way they could live up to their reputation on that one.
Executive decision time: one month extension hereby granted. But that's it, so get to work (he said to himself)!

Excellent, I think my C-47 is back in the game with that! Thanks!

Been a while since I posted an update on my campaign entry. Thanks to my laptop going kaput I've managed to get a lot of free time on the workbench. These picture prove it
Cockpit section. I went for the PE instrument panel over the plastic + decal option.
Camo work. My first time trying a freehand mottling. Hope it look all right.
This is how far I've reached. Finished those pesky decals. Next, a clear coat to seal it in and then the weathering. Hope to finish it over the weekend.
Thanks for watching. Cheers

Raj,
I really like the 109! Clean and nice mottle effect. Speaking of clean, your work area is one of the cleanest I've seen lately!!
Onto my second coat of putty...

Indeed nice paint, camo and mottling job and a good looking pit on "Assi" Hahn's 109-replica.
Very well matching.

Michael and John: Good to see your progress, very fine work! And as Michael gave generously a (absolutely unselfish) one month extension it's nice to expect some more finished birds.

Thank you for your kind words
John
Thanks. The bench looks clean as I have just finished my annual cleaning. Just give a month an I'll dirty it up
Thomas
Thanks. I'm finally figuring out how to use my airbrush properly

Bob: Great looking Mustang! Congratulation on this one.
John: Wow, aligning this beast seems to be a painful. Respect to Your patience!
Raj: Very nicely detailed 109. Camo is spot on!
Michael: Silver looks good. To my mind, most silver finishes look too shiny.

And so, some progress on the 1/32 Tamiya P-51D Cripes A Mighty 3rd. A little color on the bird:
As previously mentioned in this very thread, D-Day stripes are a pain. But I think these turned out OK. Good enough for me, anyway. And I did see the smudge on the upper port wing. It's taken care of now.

Ding, got it! Blue Nosed Birds of Bodney, otherwise known as the 352nd Fighter Group. Do I win anything?
Yep, it's 352nd alright. George Preddy's Cripes A Mighty 3rd, considered by at least some sources the highest scoring Mustang of all.

Few little details to add to my spitfire and I can hopefully get some completion photos up in the next week.
Also trying to add some of the photoetch that I wasn't game to attempt on my CBI spit.

I just found this formula for a home made acrylic retarder.
5:1 mix of water (5) to Glycerin (1)
Has anyone tried it?
