@ Steffen; Thanks for showing the pic!
That´s exactly the aircraft i am going to build!
Your model looks beautiful, now i have something to aim for!
Wich green did you use for the splotches?
They seem to be quite bright, Revell suggests RLM70, can that be correct.
(Desert cammo usually are quoted as RLM79/80 over 78)
I never trust Revell´s color suggestions, and all those mixes!
Cheers!
Stefan E
Hi Stefan
I painted the model 79/80/65. The green is pretty dark, but it appears lighter on the picture.
Reasons: I was not able to airbrush the blotches - I painted them on - and then the whole upper side got a light coat of sand again --- to bring it all together and give it a dusted look --- and then another flat layer. When you photograph it the light will be dispersed on the rough upper layers making all colours appear lighter ... here are some more pix: Hs 129 B-2 of Bruno Meyer
best wishes
Steffen

That is handpainted with a very fine pointed brush. I also put a spot of future in the dials, though you can't tell in the pics.

I need a little help
I'm using Superscale's decals for the P-47D of 73rd FS 318th FG "Easy's Angles" with the nose art "Jeanie" (Sheet No 48-684) and the colours say that the aircraft is NMF with the front half of the cowl black and the second half red, the nose art has a red dress (surely she'd blend in with the cowl?) and the tail has a black band.
I also have decals that came with a Hasegawa 1/72 P-47 for the same aircraf but it says the aircraft is NMF with the front half of the cowl red, the nose art dress is blue and the tail band is red.
Does anyone know which one is correct or know of any sites where I can gleem some information as I've spent all day (at work) trawling the internet and came up with nothing.

That is just amazing! I will try the same on my F-4 cockpit, but I doubt I will get the same results. Great work!

Hi there everyone.
I finally dug through my stash last night, came out with 2 options. A TBM-3 or a P-47D. After reading through the thread, it seams that the allied team needs some help, so I will go with this one.
It will be loaded up with both the bombs and rockets.
Hoping to get it started this weekend.
Ted

I've started to prep my cockpit pieces for painting and assembly on the Dragon Ju88P-1 and have noticed that there are a large multitude of "sinkholes" on most of the parts. The cockpit floor alone had 12 of them and over half can be seen after assembly. Some are bad and others are minor--but I'm kind of disappointed with how many of these I have found. I checked my revell pro-modeler A-4 and there are none that I can see(upon a quick glance). It just makes things tedious since they all have to be filled and sanded especially since they are the smaller pieces-lol. I just think that this kind of issue is unnecessary and that the Dragon engineers should have found a better place for them. Anyway--just wanted to let you guys know about this in case you have this particular model. I'm done ranting and off to buy some more tubes of putty and bottles of mr surfacer!!

@klimmer: looks great, looking forward to see it get airborne.
@Tigerbait: I will practice - this is only my second jet aircraft - so I will probably go through a pile of kits before I reach your level
@Blackwulf: sorry to hear about all the sink marks. I had some nasty ones on my F-4 as well.

Hi all!
Ater the initial glueing and painting, I started with the detail painting om my Hs-129.
I gave the engines a basic coat of H53 Gunmetal, the rods were painted H56 Aluminium and finally I gave the engines a good black and dirty wash.
I painted the cockpit tub, instrument panel and cockpit insides RLM66 (H32 Dark Grey), picked out details with black and drybrushed with H56 Aluminium and silver.
From the beginning I planned to do this stricktly from the box, but I couldn´t resist adding some etched belts from Eduard!
Ater all was dry I could close the fuselage.
Now I have assembled the fuselage, wings with nacelles, tailplanes and engines.
Next time this will be a complete aircraft.
What can I say about the kit?
Only one word; Superb!
Almost perfect fit so far, making the build fast and easy and litterally falls together by itself!
Nice to see some Yaks around!
@Ted; The Academy P-47 is a really good kit, but the decals are crappy and almost useless!
Those decals looks very good but does not respond on micro-set or -sol, the adesive is so bad that the decals falls off the model within weeks if not coated with varnish.
I advice you to get some nice aftermarket decals, Eagle strike and Aeromaster have plenty of nice schemes!
It´s too bad Academy can´t solve this problem, I have built several Academy kits and all have had those bad decals, so I always buy AM decals instead.
Cheers!

Thanks for the advice Stefan.
I have only built one Academy kit prior to this but the decals worked out fine, but I will take your advice and order a set.

Hey everyone,
I'm planning on starting the Yak-9T this weekend (ICM 1/48) and since this is my first model in over 10 years, I was wondering if anyone had any sage advice. This is also my first attempt at using an airbrush, so hopefully it will turn out ok. I've got a iwata eclipse dual action, and I've been able to successfully paint some old milk jugs with minimul problems.
So any advice would be great. I started out last night by washing off all the nasty mold release which was covering the kit. Also, since the kit is molded in dark green plastic, would it be wise to prime the parts with some grey spraypaint primer?
Gosh....so many questions, hope you guys don't mind me bugging you during this learning experience!
Thanks
Mark

@Mark--this wil potentially be my first air-brush job also. Primer is a good idea from the 100 articles I have read--just choose a good brand. I bought one of those testors propellant spray cans and find that it works well for priming and painting large parts. Clean up is definitely easier.

@Mark again--some people just buy Krylon primer and use the can for painting the prime coat also.

@Grypho: very nice work. Lot of nice details there.
@Phantom II: great work. I look forward to start on my as well. However, I am considering to finish another bird first to get some more aircraft experience before I jump into my main tank busting enty
@Oleander13: You should always use a basecoat before you start spraying. This gives a much better final result. I use Eagles light grey basecoat. Works great for me

@ Grypho...........hey Peter, Nice to see that you are participating in this campain as well.
If your Stuka is anything like your 109 from the "dual" campain, it will be great folllowing your build and seeing the end result.
Looking forward to it.

Hey Ted, thanks mate
Should be a quick build, as it'll be OOB - only mod will be those foil seatbelts.
Likewise looking forward to following the progress of your "Jug".
Cheers

Peter,
Again we will be on opposing sides of the battlefield.
I look forward to your build. Mine will also be OOB, with just some PE seatbelts.
I will post some progress shots soon.
