Marc! I think you've done a great job on that MiG! I've done four of the Eduard 21:s but no SMT, it looks cool with that humpback.

Regarding the looks in the photos: from my own experience I've learnt that 144 HAS to look a little bit like a caricature in photos in order to look good in real life at normal viewing distance. I think the MiG looks great!

Very nice work on the Mig-21. I especially like the painted inside of the canopy. I have a Hangar Queen Mig-21 1/144 and mine will on display with an open canopy as well. If it looks half as good as yours, i will be very happy!

a FoxOne Bachem B349 Natter built as the M23 which was the first and only manned flight on 1 March 1945. Unfortunately the test pilot was killed when the improperly locked canopy came off in take-off.

I don't have the 262 kit, but do have the F-86, and it does not have a pilot figure included.

But if I remember correctly, Preiser atone time made a small box of 1/144 modern German Air Force. While not exact, they might get you started.

Thanks, Jonathan. I knew about Ozmods' pilots, but he wants a $15 minimum order & it's something like $50 in shipping to the US. I did find them through BNA Model World, and they only wanted $3 in shipping to the US. I think I'm going to go that route.

I used Eduard model kit, Brengun PE detail set, Master gun barrels and some of my own upgrades like resin flaps, separate control surpaces, gun and ammo bays, engine and angine bay (the engine was 3D printed but the rest is traditional scratch just copied with resin). Here's a model I've recently built. Meet the Fokker namely Valom 1:144 Fokker D.VII





My own additions are:
- propeller hub
- radiator cover
- engine and exhaust
- maxhine guns
- cockpit interior
- mirror
- boarding step and tail hand-grips
- elevator and rudder steering cables (made of copper wire)
- tail struts and rigging made of Infini rigging thread.

Having recently acquired a selection of 1/144-scale aircraft (a combination of single prop, jets and helicopters), I am planning to incorporate these in a diorama alongside some 1/35-scale figures. Yes, an odd mix ... actually, the scene will depict a gathering of RC aircraft enthusiasts. The scale comparison is perfect to represent 1/4-scale aircraft (quite a common scale for RC aircraft), and this scenario will give the opportunity to include aircraft from various eras and nationalities.
Has anyone else tackled a similar idea?
