Woops, I had not seen this was open for enlistment. I have signed up - will probably be something German from WWII, but I have not decided yet. I will see what is in my stash when we get closer to the starting date.

Should show up on the right side of this page ? Campaign Page If not something is terribly wrong with the Campaign Area that needs to be fixed.
Sign up / Enlistment is no different on AeroScale than it is on any of the other Communities.
So how does one get to that page otherwise?
I have yet to find a way to navigate to the enlistment page of a campaign that hasn't been fully approved and listed on this page , which shows only "active campaigns" and "debarkation zone" - no sign of proposed campaigns that need people to sign up at all.
Sorry, but software and end-user testing is my job, and the lack of an obvious way to navigate to a page containing a list of proposed campaigns is something I would definitely log a bug over.

I have the same problem as Vanize. Had it not been for that link you put up I don't know that I would have found that page. How do you get to it otherwise?

Yes, the addition of the LINK is a workaround to the fact that it does not show up until it is Approved. An extra step for the Author of the Proposal or for me, but it has worked so far.

So then, is that bug status "as designed", or " deferred"?

hello Vance,
thank you for the post. that is what i was trying to say,but did not know how to say it. on Model Shipwright when you submit a proposalfor a campaign,Mark(gunny) sets up a link for you to enlist, usually at the first post of the thread. if you catch my meaning.
thanks again,
Bruce

No problem, bruce - that's my job after all!
Actually, being a tester is pretty cool. You get to act like you know what you are talking about (when you really have only learned enough to be dangerous), tell people what they did wrong, then break things, hand them back to other people to fix, and insist that it comes back better than original next time. And you get paid to do all this, as long as you can say it the right way.

hello Vance,
i had a job once breaking things, then my enlistment was up.of course that was in the 60's.
maybe you can figure a way to put up proposed campaign on the campaign page. if it was done it would be easier for get builders to sign-up for campaigns.maybe one way would be the person who proposed the campaign, when he had at least 5 interested in his campaign, could PM one of the staff.the staff member could then put the proposed campaign on the campaign page, with a 30 day time limit.if not enough people signed up it would be deleted off the campaign page. or maybe not.
what do you, the members think about an easier way to find and sign up for campaign's.
just thought's.
cheers,
Bruce

Hi!
Are you serious about the starting date, November 2009?
More then a year from now, and ending September 2010!
Why not start November 2008 and end Sept 2009?
There will be plenty of time for research and with almost a year for the build everyone should be able to complete their builds in time.
There will always be lots of active Campaigns on this site, so there´s no reason to wait so long to start, If you ask me.
Just my thoughts!
Cheers!
Stefan E

hello Stefan,
the reason for the start time being so long in the future is,i am running (late 08-09)3 ship campaigns,co-running 1 armor campaign not counting sea plane.i am also building 2 ships,1 for a year long campaign and due in late July.i am also building 2 planes, and a tank during this time.plus any other campaign's i find interesting and can find the time to do a build.
with all of the campaigns going on i figured the start time in 09 will make it easier for me and give the other modelers time to plan, research, and buy what they want to build.sorry for the long wait.
i have got what i am building for this campaign,a Blohm & Voss Bv 222 V-2 in 1/72 scale,it should be a fun build.
cheers,
Bruce

Hi Bruce!
It´s OK with me, just wanted to check the timeframe!
I have re-read this tread from the beginning and I can see why You want some time before comitting to this one.
Sorry for bringing this up, but I´m eager to start building a sea-plane!
But I have lots to do while I wait!
Cheers!

I know that you weren't directing your question toward me, Bruce, but I'm gonna chime in with my build. I think I'm going to build the HUMA Dornier Wal, BUT, I want to build the version that was used in the polar explorations. I have a Norwegian ancestor who was a pilot for Amundsen (his name is Leif Dietrichson) and that's what they made the trip in. If ANYONE has any info on that plane, or an idea where I can get it, let me know, I'm trying to soak up everything I can.
I'm also looking at a Latham 47, the plane that Amundsen and Dietrichson went MIA in, but no luck on finding a kit of any sort. I know it was a rare plane, I doubt there's a huge demand for them!

Hi!
I really don´t know yet, but I have several nice kits to choose from.
I assume we are talking Sea-Planes and not amphibians?
Well, as Sea-planes go I have, all in 1/48th scale, unless noted;
Arado 196; alredy started since three years, look for my build-thread in the Pre-flight section.
Loire 130M, but It´s already started so I´ll build this as a "warm-up"!
Latecoere 298, another French contraption working as a Torpedo-bomber on floats.
Mitsubishi Type 2 Floatplane Fighter "Rufe" (Zero on floats)
OS2U Kingfisher, Floatplane
Junkers Ju52/3m on floats , Eduard 1/144
Grumman J2F-5 "Duck", Amphibious
Grumman Goose, Amphibious
HU-16 Albatross, A-Model 1/144, amphibious
That´s what I have today, but i´m sure I´ll get a couple more before we start.
I´m specially looking forward to the new FM Short Sunderland in 1/48!
Good we have some time to decide, eh?
Cheers!
