hello all,
this is what is allowed for this campaign:
it has to be able to land on the ocean,or take off from the ocean to be allowed.so amphibian planes are allowed.
but it cannot be flown off of a aircraft carrier,in case you were going to ask.
cheers,
Bruce

Seeing as this is a long way in the future, I will have to fulfil a long held ambition and aquire a Roden Felixstowe. I have wanted this kit for some time, but the rigging

I love the idea of a seaplane build and would also like to find a DHC Beaver, on floats of course.

Just ran across this campaign this morning. Normally I’m working armor PTO. I couldn’t remember if I sent this to Afghanistan with all my other models I received as gifts, planes and boats so I checked and I still have one plane, a PBY, in the rafters. For a break I’ll join and dust off the PBY. Long time to wait but I always try to do 2 projects at the same time, keeps my mind working and helps me to stop fiddling with something that needs time to dry. I can just switch to the other project.
Besides I like blue, not so much green anymore.

Hi Bruce -
This would be my first campaign. Since there's plenty of time, I would like to go join in. I'm not sure about just what I'd build - I have a bunch of seaplanes, flying boats and amphibs.
I'm a week away from a project I'm starting to demonstrate my 'maskless' canopy technique but that can be done before the end of this year.
Come to think of it, since there's plenty of help available here, I might use this to try my hand at a Sikorsky S-38 resin kit. Never built a resin kit before.
Please confirm the end date for me. I am retired and absolutely HATE deadlines unless they're far enough away to be meaningless. If I can't build a kit in a year I shouldn't be doing it.
Regards,
Steve

hello Steve,
the campaign starts November 1,2009 and ends September 1,2010,which gives you 10 months to do your build.if you run into a time problem,you can ask for an extension for a month.
so all in all you would have 11 months to get your build done.i hope that will be enought time.
if you need anything else let me know.
cheers,
Bruce

I'll let the moderators decide on this idea.
I'd like to build an IJN Seaplane Tender full of little 700th scale sea planes. Waterlined with all sorts of activity surrounding the ship.

hello Frank,
as long as the planes are taking off from the water or landing on the water,i see no problems with it.it is out of the scale rules,but as long as there are clear photo's i do not see a problem.and seeing some of your builds,i do not think that clear photo's will be a problem for you.
for anyone else who might want to do something like this,i will decide on a case by case basis.
cheers,
Bruce

Hi all, to be honest I wouldn't normally be over here on Aeroscale being a mostly AFV builder, but something made me want to take look, and now having seen this campaign I'm glad I did.
I'm going to do a Catalina for the simple reason that the father of my Step Dad flew Cats during WWII, it feels just right to join in. I don't build many planes, but I'm going to make this campaign an exception.

Hi Bruce, thanks for the welcome, nice to be on board. He flew out of West Africa during the war, but home was Oban in Scotland, I'm trying to pick up bits of info when I can, but He's just gone into a home, so the subject is abit sore, I have to choose my moments carefully. I was hoping to build it in 144 scale, but it might have to be 72nd.
Once again thanks for the welcome, feels really good to part of this campaign.

hello all,
@ Roger,
welcome to the campaign.the winter months are a good time to do a seaplane campaign.you can dream of warm pacific beaches while doing your build.
@ Jason,
i am sorry about your Father,you could ask the MOD for his service record and use that to talk to your Father about his time in the service.it might be the opening you need to talk to him.
if you need anything and i can help,please ask.
cheers,
Bruce

I can't resist, I've got to enlist for this. No idea what to build yet. Always fancied doing a PBY, but I expect that to be a popular choice, so I might look some more.
Current builds:
Airfix Spitfire PR XIX in 1/72nd
Airfix Douglas TBD-1 Devastator in 1/72nd
Airfix RAF Refuelling Set

I still have not decided what to build, but I am planning on some of the German WWII flying boats. Otherwise I might go old school with the Airfix Sunderland.

hello all,
@John,
welcome to the campaign.it is good to see some different countries being modeled.

@Simon,
welcome to the campaign.if you do a PBY,there were a lot of countries flying them,and the timeline is open.you do not have to just do WW2 era plane.
@Jasper,
whatever you build,i know it will be great.
we have about 6 months to get ready,if anyone needs any help let me know.
cheers,
Bruce
