Danke,Bob....
I found the plans and cockpit drawings I was looking for on that link you provided ..muchas gracias!...sourced out my engines this morning, and now have all roundels, tail flashes, and call letters I need ! feelin groovy.....
I think the thing I like best about the Stranny is that it seems that while only 57 airframes were produced, the majority were used here in Canada for coastal defence ( B.C. and Maritime defence)..so we are looking at a Canadian bird(sort of...)...
Id like to tandem the Stranny build with either the 1:48 Loire 130M by Azure, or the 1:72 Jake by Hasegawa...

Hi Bruce,

I went ahead and enlisted. This will be my first build for AeroScale.

By the way.....this is the third campaign of yours that I have enlisted in this year!! I guess you just have too many cool ideas for campaigns!!

This should be a fun campaign. I don't normally build aircraft but I thought this would be a good campaign for me to................................sorry..................."earn my wings"!!.

Thanks,

HARV

Just won an ebay auction for an airfix sunderland.
Looks like next year will be all about BIG. With this and a lanc on the build list.

The sunderland arrived. Part built. Part converted to civilian mode!!
The front and rear turrets faired over but still MK3 portholes (corrected the kit)
So not a Hythe. Still very much a MK3 sunderland. Engines missing.

The modeller who started it has passed away so I can't ask him what
his original intent was. The fuselage is sealed up and the cockpit is
beautifully scratched. The entire fuselage will need rescribed and riveted.
The canopy will need to be smash moulded too as the original is too thick
to accomodate the changes to the cockpit.

I'm thinking a BOAC Sunderland, perhaps G-AGES which crashed in Co Kerry
ferrying Portuguese internees back to GB. Mostly RAF crew who had evaded capture
only to perish in an air crash 50 miles from home. Tragic story.
It was de-camouflaged, so an all aluminum scheme will be quite attractive.

I want to ask if this will be acceptable for the campaign. It is started (although not
by me) and a lot of work has been done but there is a substantial amount of work still to do
new engines(scratch?), research, canopy moulding, final assembly and painting.

Hello John-Paul,
I am going to allow it. As stated you did not start it and there is a lot to be done to finish it.
Can you please post photo's for the plane before the start of the campaign, So there are no questions about what is done and needs to be done. Thanks.
Cheers,
Bruce

This campaign is a good opportunity to finally build a water base. Anyone else gonna build one?

Check out Clanky44's campaign on Model Shipwrights"Divine waterline"...the emphasis is on water bases...and the campaign is just getting started now..

Here is what I am going to be building for this campaign.

After I read the history on the airplane and learned that it was built to be transported, launched and recovered on Russian submarines I thought it would be a cool subject to build.

Thanks,

Thanks Bruce will do. Joined the seaplane forum at seawings to get more info before I start. I wasn't expecting a half built model to arrive.
Hope your health issues clear up and you are back to 100% as soon as possible.
Here is the best picture I have of G-AGES, an oil painting

Hello John-Paul,
Looks OK to me. It also looks like you have alot of DeBuilding before you can start Building.
Does anyone had any problems with me doing this for John-Paul? I do not think it is a problem with what he is planing to do with the kit. If do, Please send me a PM.
Cheers,
Bruce

PROTEST !!!

JP will have more engines than me. I want the most engines. Disallow it unless he only does 1 wing on it.

Bruce, hope everything is well with you. We'll say a prayer.....you may want to drop the whole "666" thing from your callsign though.

Jim thanks for stepping up. I've been looking forward to this campaign all year. Here is a pic of the kit I plan to build. Been in my stash for a few years.

Also, unless Jaypee is planning on leaving his kit "as is" and putting in a aircraft junkyard dio I say let him join in. I for one would like to see how that kit of his turns out when it's finished. My 2 cents.

Hey john-paul, is that kit the series 6 # 06001, 1/72 short sundy III?
If it is, those aren't the kit cowls...they were open slat with the radial engines molded in.

Here is my entry. British design, dropped and picked up by us Canadians for coastal patrol.
With typical Canadian "gift for words" we dubbed her unofficially"whistling Sh*thouse" due to the fact the toilet discharge consisted of an open metal pipe exiting the plane....its no wonder that Canadians where considered to have the foulest mouth of all the allied troops in WW2..lol...makes me gosh-darn proud it does ..lol...

Tis indeed. these cowlings are all custom done by the previous owner.
Looks like I'll have some fun when the airfix replacements arrive then.

Jim. You been to the post office yet? I will take a photo of the flight and
post it here. It is done really well IMO.

Nice choice with the stranny. This GB is a real blast back to a bygone era.
If only there was SR-A1 to bring us into the jet age

Thanks for the encouragement folks.

Does anyone had any problems with me doing this for John-Paul?

Not at all. I think it will be cool to watch it being redone. Building a new aircraft out of an old one.....kind of like the movie "The Flight of the Phoenix"!!

Hope you get better soon Bruce.
