Hello All,
@ Tuomas,
Great choice for the campaign. I love the WW1 Float planes.
@ Terri,
You think that bad, Try using Resin, PE, etc. on a 1/700 ship. Yes,I know you build ships.
@ Jim,
The package should be in the mail Tuesday. Can you send me you address again, My system had a hard shut down and I lost everything.
Cheers,
Bruce

That will be a beautiful Model when you get done. It must be me, But i love the WW1 Seaplanes. I am going with a Cessna Float in 1/48 scale. All my other Seaplanes are to big right now to build.

wow..one of my favorite subjects...
which to do?

--- 1/48 wings O2U corsair
--- 1/48 wings SOC seagull
-- 1/48 F4F-3S wildcatfish
-- 1/48 PBY-5A black cat
-- 1/48 N-9 Jenny
-- 1/48 czechmodel Seamew

and then there is the posibility of doing a 1/48 F5L flying boat (mostly scratch)...but ill probally do something I can finish within the campain!

Greatmodels has the M.5 on sale...

oh then there is the Goose, Widgen, Pete, or I could break the bank and find me a RVHP 1/48 albratross!!!! THAT would be my choice

choices choices...

Hey, are you and von cuda followin me...
That one would be nice terry, but I pegged you for another kit -
I'm rather torn about which one of mine to pick...they're all good, but I'm seeing alot of W-4's and Do's{except my MachII Do26}..actually, I have another one to add if I can find float plans for a Ju52/3m{newest revell release in 1/48}.......

Hello Bob,
Welcome to the campaign. Please remember that it starts this Winter.
looks like you are going to have a difficult decision on which one to build.
I have 3 different to models and i need to pick one.
They are Cressna 172 Float Plane in 1/48 scale by Minicraft
A Blohm & Voss BV22 V-2 in 1/72 scale by Revell
And one i just picked up at a show here in town, A PK 601 SuperMarine Stranraer in 1/72 scale by Matchbox. It has poor decals so i am going to have to buy some if i build her.
So i need some input from all of you abut each plane.
Cheers,
Bruce

Bruce, that revell BV222 is the very one I started 3 years ago when getting burnt out on armor kits....she's a sizable kit and being a revell there will be fit issues{fuse as I recall}, but it's still worth the work I think...mine is about 75% painted but since it was my 1st airplane I painted the halves of the fuse{yeah I did!} and the wings separate too. Word to the wise...don't do that!
I've seen that minicraft kit and though I know nothing else about it, she looks good.
I don't know much about matchbox kits even though I own they're 1/48 AD-5 skyraider and a 1/32 lysander...never cracked them open..and sooooo not like me!

Hello Bob,
I am sending the Matchbox kit to Jim McIntosh, So that ones off my list.
Looking over the Minicraft kit, It looks like an easy build. I need an easy build right now.
I am 3 Tanks and 4 ships behind plus 2-3 more campaigns coming up.
I have seen some good reviews on most of the Matchbox Models, So have fun.
Welcome to the Campaign.
Cheers,
Bruce

Hello all, I'm a recent addition to the site and a confirmed campaign virgin, but I'm in on this one and will decide between 1/72 SuperModel BV 138 or Matchbox He 115.
I'm just returning to the hobby after a few years away, and after spending a few hours browsing this site am dreaming of becoming half as talented as most of the contributors here.

Hello Damian,
Welcome to the Site and the Campaign. I restarted the hobby 1 1/2 years ago after 25+ years.
Do not be afraid to ask questions, We are here to help.
You might want to explore the other sites, I spend a lot of time over at Model Shipwrights trying to build ships.
Again Welcome.
Cheers,
Bruce

Hi Damian..I should tell you that Iv been on this site for about 2 years now, and I have no reservation in saying that I feel my skill level ( interpret:confidence) has increased exponentially. I give the kitmaker network of sites a Lions share of the credit for that. If you really want to build good models, you will. The people here on this site are top-notch. Not just in building skills either ...Iv met people I consider freinds now ....like Terri and Bruce here ..WELCOME! , and remember you get out of it what you put in ..!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Likewise I have had around 25 years away from the hobby but maintained an interest mainly in WWII aircraft, and have spent the last 2 years collecting kits and planning themes and dioramas. Now it's time to take the plunge and start mangling some plastic. I've put some progress shots on my profile. I have a notebook handy at all times as I can never navigate my way back to a thread of particular relevance to my interests and I find useful info in almost every forum I look into. I think the best aspect is the international flavour, modellers from all corners all contributing and commenting. I am certainly looking forward to showing my progress and getting feedback.
Anyway, back to the hobby table, time to test fit the dropped flaps and have a go at flattening some tyres.

Hey everyone, I just signed up for the campaign. I too have never built a sea plane before and I've chosen Hasegawa's recent F1M2 1/48 scale model to be my first one. Should be fun!

Hi Sebastian

I have that one too .. but I am not sure it will be a fun build. The multi-layer PE looks not that easy (I have Hasegawas own set for rigging and stuff) also multi winged a/c always have some more complexity .... still I wish it can be a fun build ..

I am not sure what I will choose for the campaign, the Savoia duel agains Eetu is very tempting .. the Pete and the forthcoming Arado too and then there is quite a stack that holds some more nice kits of "boat planes"

all the best

Yeah Jim, it's a mad looking unit. It was nicknamed the "Flying Clog", possibly it handled like a carved piece of wood, but the fuselage (hull??) certainly looks cloggish.

I think I can handle the PE, it's fine. I'll definitely get Hasegawa's PE set and some Eduard seatbelts for this one.

This campaign is a good opportunity to finally build a water base. Anyone else gonna build one?
