Terri,
Wow!! That's more AM stuff then I think I've ever bought. So you're the 3rd Power Ball winner. Must be to pay for all that "gold"
Joel
Not really , but it is nice to dream about it ! I do very well at my job so ever once in awhile I can treat myself and since I have enough kits in the stash why not get some bling for a few kits covering my favorites .

PeeJay, that's quite a haul you have there. Some nice kits, especially those T'bolts ....
Yesterdays club meeting added 2 more kits to my stash, Revell's 1/35 Unimog "Zwotonner" and Zvezda's new Pe-2 in 1/48 ....
Now, 435 parts for an aircraft kit is quite a challenge! Btw, if anyone speaks Russian, please let me know what painting scheme No. 4 says about the aircraft. That would be my choice.
My campaigns for 2020:
MiGs - Done !
The Big Three - Done !
65 years Bundeswehr - Done !
40 years Leopard 2 - Done !
Land Lease - Done !

Because apparently getting 6 or 7 kits over the Holidays wasn't enough, I picked up another 5 when I decided to attend my first swap meet at my local club. Mostly some oldies like a gun nose B-25J and a Hasegawa Bf 109, but I was happy to grab an old F-82B kit as well.
The postman dropped this little gem off today for me as well:
I had this whole plan for my new year where I was not going to get myself into a bunch of campaigns I couldn't finish and instead clear out my shelf of doom...
But yeah, I was really intrigued by Zoukei-Mura's approach to kit engineering and who doesn't think the Ho 229 is one of the coolest aircraft ever??? I realize they make a few accuracy compromises in order to make the kit work, but the idea of building the plane from the airframe up grabbed my attention.
On top of that, anything you build is a "What If" since it never made it out of the design and trials stage, so you can't go wrong no matter what scheme you choose. I am not aware of anyone having built this and reviewed it yet, at least here at Aeroscale, so instead of focusing on clearing my shelf off I think I am going to have some fun doing a build log of the flying wing.
On the Bench:
The Big Three: Eduard 1:48 Bf 109G-2 Trop
Radial Fighters: Hasegawa 1:48 Ki84 Frank
The Mighty Eighth: Eduard 1:48 P-51D-10

Paul,
I'm looking forward to your build blog as I've never attempted one of their kits.
Like you, I've cut way back from campaign after campaign, and now rarely sign up for one, as I rather do a open build blog.
I've also come out of the "modeling closet" and will be building race cars as well as aircraft moving forward.

Hi again
Thanks to Hobbico via Jim_S for this little Hasegawa beauty that arrived today:
Jim's got me down to build it, so I'd better not let him down... I think I'll do an In-Box review first to be on the safe side, though.
All the best

Rowan ... you will not build it. You never build anything (finished) so do not promise anything to anyone.
Think twice before you object, you know I am right (though "never" might be a micron too absolute)
Here is what I bought this week
and yes I am guilty too, I only have a handful of post ww2 jets in my dislplay shelf but umpteen in the stash (BTW both kits look very good in the box)
all the best

Steffen,
A little rough on Rowan don't you think. And yeah he's started nearly a dozen kits or so, got the basics of the interiors done, then just moved on to another kit. But I do have faith in my friend from across the pond, that one day (hopefully this year), the inspiration to finish all those kits will kick in. Then he'll flood the appropriate forum with one build blog after another build blog,
Joel

Steffen's a good friend and only being cruel to be kind.
I'm damned if I do or don't, really, aren't I! If I don't build it, he can say "I told you so" - and if I do, he can claim the insults worked.
Actually, after my false start this year, I'm making steady progress on the GWH F-15 so I should have something to show soon. I'm also planning to cut right back on the number of reviews I write so that I can finally spend more time at the workbench. With the current batch I've got in the pipeline set to take me past the 700 articles mark, I think it's time to refocus and have some fun again.
Another reason for keeping away from the keyboard is that my carpal tunnel trouble has been getting worse. I'm seeing a consultant next week. If he or she recommends surgery, that could be a fly in ointment the as regards plans for modelling for a while.
All the best
Rowan

True, but would not the latter be a win win situation...

Do so! I hope your med problems can be solved without too much trouble!
@Joel: Rowan and I are pretty much in the same boat. Maintaining a website costs a lot of time (I mean a LOT) you really have to steal your time for everything else besides work. (and I know Rowan really has a sh..load of that in his current job) I am the webmaster of IPMS Deutschland for a good 15 years now and kow what I am talking about. Luckily I got some help last year which means article preparation is also done by a 2nd person. So when I "attack" him he knows that I know he does his best and I only want to poke him a little to get something finished..
so, all the best to both of you and keep on modelling (model BUILDING)!
cheers
Steffen

Steffen & Rowan,
yeah, I knew that you were just poking some fun at him, just thought I'd jump in on his side for friendship's sake. I do realize the amount of time that Rowan has to put into the number of reviews he does, and all that he does for the site behind the scenes, which leaves him almost no time to model. That's kind of a Oxi-moron when you consider that this is not only a plastic modeling site, but that's why each of us joined it in the 1st place. To get more out of our modeling, and share with others who have the same passion as we do.
No one is happier to see that Rowan is now making steady progress on the GWH IAF F-15. I built their F-15C, and it's the best jet I've ever built.
Maybe what Rowan could use is an assistant to help ease the load, and afford him more time to model. That idea from what you said, seams to have helped you.
Rowan, as for your Carpal tunnel issues, I had some issues with it years ago. Seems that typing at a keyboard was the major issue, not model building. I just opted for wrist braces that I wore for a few years. Now I just live with the numbness I get in my hands every so often.

Yep - I think too much typing is the culprit (my years as a video editor probably did the real damage - 15+ hrs per day, day in and out for 25 years at a keyboard and latterly mouse or trackball can't be healthy...), so I'm hoping cutting back on the writing will lesson the strain - and modelling will be a positive help in getting my fingers moving properly. At the moment it's like working with a glove on my right hand, but I really hope not to have to go the surgery route in case something goes wrong.
All the best
Rowan

This showed up today, been wanting to build a Basler BT-67 Turbo-Gooney for quite some time. I just ordered the Airfix kit from Squadron so it won’t be long before I’ll have all the necessary bits for a BT-67.

Hot out of the post box, a couple of kits to be reviewed, variants of which have been seen in review pages past.

I've been on a "Hollywood" kick lately and that Stearman is on my to do list, albeit not as a Stearman.
I want to dress her up as a mock Gloster Gladiator as imagine Hollywood had done if they needed a stand in Gladiator in the days before CGI.
I have the Tora Tora Tora trio in the works at the moment. Kitbashing/converting a Zero, Kate and Val from Texans and BT-13s with donor pieces from a Zero, Kate and Val.

Hi again
I did a bit of shopping at
The Airbrush Company to get my Aztek connected to my Iwata set-up without major air-hose changes and treat my lungs to a new respirator mask:
The JSP mask is much more comfortable and better designed than what I've been using, so it's money well spent.

Hi Steffen
I don't have a Stormtrooper outfit, but I have been throwing paint at the Hasegawa "Dave" over the last few days and will be wearing the new mask for the next assault.
Seriously: with the amount of muck we throw into the air (acrylics, solvent-based paints, resin dust.. you name it - they're all bad for us) a decent mask is a sound investment for around the price of a fairly average kit.

I do not argue on that, but I prefer my spray booth.
Still a funny though you in your full body white CSI overall the mask and googles

I agree ... never spray without one! After awhile, wearing a mask just becomes second nature ... even with a spray-booth. My discarded respirator filters are constant reminders of what I didn't breath in.

Hi Steffen
I have a paint booth too. Despite that - if I can smell the paint (and I can without a mask) - I know it's getting to me. Same with resin dust. It might be a case of "belt and braces", but they are cheap - new lungs aren't so easy to find.

I've been putting off buying a real respirator mask for some time, but it's going to be my next purchase. The big box home improvement centers carry them, and like Rowan said, they're real cheap compared to the price, time, and pain involved in getting a new pair of lungs. If they can find a match in time.

Hi again Steffen
The fact that you're using a spray booth is great - I didn't at your age (most of us of my generation didn't) and so have probably already done all kinds of damage; probably as a result, I really notice if I haven't taken adequate precautions these days, so I try not to add to any problems I've self-inflicted.

Guys as I wrote: I do not want to argue about that.
Just my 2 ct: Do you go away when you fill up your car with fuel... what about walking or riding bike along a busy road .. I use my spraygun just a few times a month and so my walk to work (about 1,5km 2 or 4 times each day, depending on lunch break) is probably more dangerous to my lungs than that.
It is not wrong to be cautious! So do what you think is good for you!!! I do not like to have anything in my face when I am concentrated.
all the best
Steffen
P.S: and do not forget to show your work here on Aeroscale!!!

Hi Brian,
well I have the AZ kit, but I passed on the HB as I knew this would come. It is a nice kit (I already started it; will be oob except for Austrian Decals from the AZ kit). In my book this is a "German WW2 jet"
Being a bit more serious it has at least as much German genes as MiG-15 and F-86...
Cool kit, interesting a/c (hope for "Kongo versions" in the future) .. go get it
all the best
