Hi Steffen

Back in my college days I used to train with some of the British athletics squad, running alongside busy main roads in London at rush-hour. They wouldn't take any notice when I joked it was probably doing us more harm than good exercising in such conditions.

All the best

I had a 1/48 scale on order but LHS could not get it from Airfix so today I picked up the 1/72 version for the Recce campaign while stocks last!:-

Hi again

A very nice surprise arrived today in the shape of Kitty Hawk's new T-28 Trojan :

I'll get cracking on the review as soon as I can.

I happily found this waiting for me when I arrived home from work. I have been debating getting some of these modules when my wife offered to order some as an anniversary gift, but wanted to try one out before investing any real money in them. I ordered the Brush and Tools Module thinking even if I didn't like the products I could still use a brush organizer. I am going to stain the wood before assembling it to improve the finished appearance.

Hi Paul,
Just had a look on their site and they do look good. Let us know what you think of them, I'm looking at the corner ones for my desk.

Paul,
I've been using their large straight paint stand for large bottles, and it's a great organizer. Unfortunately, the larger 23ml Tamiya bottles are to big, but since I'm switching over to Life Color paints little by little it's not a major issue. They make organizing paints by type and manufacture easy and very accessible. I'm thinking of getting a 2nd unit and trying to modify it for the larger Tamiya bottles.

During yesterdays expo this nice kit jumped into my bag - Saab J-29 F Tunnan from Hobbyboss in 1/48 ....

... and it comes in swedish and "upside down mountain" austrian markings. As usual Hobbyboss doesn't say which unit, where and when ...

Torsten

btw. next weekend there's another expo in my area ....

Very good to hear that the quarterscale Defiant is out now, Luciano. I also have it on pre order at my LHS and it should arrive there within the next weeks. This kit surely won't see my stash - it will go straight on the workbench ....

I will be watching for that Defiant to hit the stores here!

A little addition to the stash, for my P-61 diorama if I ever get back to it

Cheers, D

I remember those! They used to get randomly included in USAirfix boxes. If you were lucky they were somewhat relevant to the model.

I used to conduct wonderful scenes in my imagination, each of the guys playing a role in whatever was happening on my little airfield

So I stained and assembled my HobbyZone brush and tools module, and I have to say I like their product. Staining it was a breeze and the white laminate cleaned up easily with a little rubbing alcohol and a rag. I used Gorilla Wood Glue and some Irvin clamps. I tried finishing nails but you would have to drill pilot holes to prevent the thin walls from splitting.

Before and after:

I was impressed enough I went ahead and ordered a whole setup direct from the manufacturer, 14 modules in all!

They included a couple of swag freebies:

Not sure where I might put the decals but its a nice touch to get some fun freebies.

A quick note on costs in case anyone else debates buying some of these. I purchased direct from HobbyZone, who ships same day through UPS to anywhere. They also waive the VAT for everyone outside of the EU who purchases direct. This brought my bill down to $230-ish plus $91 shipping for a total of $324. The only US distributor I found was Hobbyworld-USA, where the price was $318 before shipping. Considering the box weighed 23kg I was happy with my costs. I can't think you will find them cheaper outside the EU than ordering direct to avoid the VAT.

I feared that last weekend's expo in Stetten would be a bad day for my purse and I was right ....
First I found the Do 215 from Revell (ex ICM) ....

The box is far too big for what it contents. But I sure find a smaller one for it ....

Later that day I found this MiG 23 MF from Trumpeter. What a striking painting! Should fit perfect to my MiG 21 UM, also from Czech Air Force.
Mal, do you have masks for this bird?
There are none included for the black/red/grey parts and to me it seems impossible to cut them correctly.

Nice purchases everyone.

I seem to be eternally drawn to 1/144 and today a trip to the Hannants shop only 20 minutes away to collect an order returned these items:

Including the new Bf-109A/B and I-16 from Armory

Jessica I hope these photos will do. There's two of the engine / prop sprues but only one in the photo.

Looks like the kit was designed to do both the early and late versions given those tailplanes...
Now I want one more than ever

Looking at PAS Models website, Eastern Express do two versions of the An-10.
Wish I could workout how to order from them as the order page is only in Russian, they do their own resin An-32 and Be-32.

Thanks Jessica, there's a bit under that in English so that's fine however when you add things to your cart and then click order you get a form to fill in with all the headings in Russian. That's where I get stuck.

Edit. Took some doing on a tablet but worked it out.

This arrived yesterday. I feel like a kid on christmas morning!

One of the tail struts was snapped, but I think I can repair it easily enough.
