I'm a man, fond of Messerschmitts and Mustangs, so this shouldn't be for me. But Nigel lured me into the Thunderbolt campaign, so there I got a lonesom plane that doesn't fit my shelf. A Dora from the Papegaistaffel would perhaps be a nice piece next to the P 47.

I love colours so I guess I have to join up.

Sitting on my shelf right now is Dragons Fw190A-5 . No longer has the decals but I'm sure I can find some some where for this one . Gives me lots of time to finihs it !!

Hi Terri

Hmm, while the Dragons are nice models for an A-8 thats not true for their A-5 because it is just their Fw 190 A-8 with some bits changed.

I will have a look if I can find the article describing what to change. There are some hatches and panels to remove/correct and the outboard weapon bay is not correct --- the A-5 was still equipped with MG FF/M ... except you build it with the double MG 151 on each side which was not very common.

I am not sure if all parts are included, so that you can build a Fw 190A-8. In general I would suggest to buy a Hasegawa or Eduard A-5 kit, but I think you prefer to bite your way through the kit.

all the best

New rule, You have to build all your FW 190s

We could extend it a few weeks if you need more time.

I am very pleased to see all you 190 fanatics are getting into this one. I almost didn't put this campaign idea through because I didn't think there would be this much interest. I haven't heard anything back on the submission yet. But I am confident we will be official soon.

As for me, Eduards 190 A-8/R2 with the extra PE set is patiently waiting, within close reach. This will be my most complicated build attempt. My order for the F-8 is being anxiously awaited.

Well I for one would need a few years as there's upwards of 20 odd 190/152's in the stash in various scales with no reason why more would not be added. Mmmm..... still havent added a Eduard kit yet

Oh go on count me in with Eduard's Fw190A8 R2D2 c3po, P.E filled boxing. Might even break a few hearts and paint it in the American captured markings.

Yep thats the baby.
Which RAF one will you do, they captured at least 3 I think?
I think nearly all the Allies had a 190. The Japanese also got one for evaluation purposes, which got the codename of Fred.

I would have to check the 56th FG home movie footage I have for identification, but its the one that toured the airfields with the 109. Ive got footage of Fred Christensen sitting in it.

Well if it wasn't squished due to banner being forced to a specific size, I would have cottoned on sooner. But I'm assuming you mean this one?

That is the one. Looks a whole lot better when not squished. Does it have any signifigance?

Still awaiting approval on this one. I am sure we will be approved...sometime...soon...I hope...

Hi Terri

well it is not all that hard. Fill a few hatches on the starboard side and the fuel port left (Anlasskraftstoff). If you have the Hasegawa A-3 or A-4 you will have the MG FF hatches for the wings as a spare (if all fails I have some of those which I could send you) . or you use the gunpods provided in the kit (2 MG 151 each) you could do the markings of Erich Hondt (quite colourfull) from th ekit

The lower large hatch for the MW 50 tank (that was added on the A-8) is not all that noticeable so you could just leave it. Sadly I have not found the correction article here, so it must be in the other part of my library faaaaar away. Though I could scan a few drawings from Peter Rodeikes FW 190 Jagdflugzeug ... just a thought.

If you want a fun project chose Tamiya ( only A-3 and F or A-8 available), shapewise better but a bit more "difficult" to build is Hasegawa where you get all variants (it is still an easy build!!). Eduard is also vey nice but challenging. As you build these WW1 thingies I think complexity is not a problem ... .. the Dragon/Trimaster/.. model is also very nice .. it is just a Fw 190 A-8 and not A-5.

all the best

Me again

I found a hardcopy in my spare parts box .. sadly the article was not on the paper, but here is the drawing. Hope I did not miss a correction .. just compare the drawing to your model parts. If you need the drawing a little larger I could upload it to my website for download.

greets

Steffen

I'm not going to be using the Dragon kit for this one . I will be using Accurate Miniatures kit of the 190a-8 . Love the engine detail . I should have the missing trees in the mail soon for this .
Steffen , What PE set would you reconmmend for the landing flaps and any other sets that would go well with this kit ?

The Big ED set has the following:
- landing flap set
- Fw-190 A/F tools and boxes
- Fw-190A8
- Fw-190A/F placards

Since you have the accurate miniatures boxing, make sure to get the basic cockpit PE as well. (assuming you want it all for you model)
The Big ED set is apparantly made with the assumption that the modeler has the regular Eduard boxing, with the cockpit PE fret, which the AM reboxin, like the weekend edition, lacks all PE.

Hi terri

So you were asking for general Aftermarket? Well, Quickboost has a few sets

QB 48 107 Gun cover (cool if you want them closed)

QB 48 109 Guns (advised for Tamiya, but should be good for Eduard too)

QB 48 117 Cowling (some people say it is difficult to build the multi part assembly, I found it really easy

QB 48 120 Pitots (IMO better done with steel/brass tubing)

Aires has a bunch of stuff, but I am not sure what is for the Eduard kit. wheel bay, wheels, cockpits, engine ....

I am sure there is more, but as stated in my initial answer it is likely, that the Eduard stuff will fit their own model best ...

cheers

Sorry I didnt post anything for the last week or so. I was down south on golf vacation (wifi was down). Then, when I came home, I found out we had been hit by a hurricane. The winds were clocked at 85 MPH. We didn't have any damage to our home, but we did lose a tree, and power. We were the lucky ones. They are saying power will be out for up to 3 weeks for some folks. But the Ryder Cup will go as scheduled.
