Hi Carl

as proposed earlier in this thread, I would like something like this:
Steffen

..the Adlerflügel ( eagle wing) design (JG 2) would look good in silhouette ....and more Würger like.

http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2004/08/stuff_eng_profile_fw190a4.htm

looking at Schnell's machine for my build or .....may well end up doing that late-war natural metal machine from SG 2 (IIRC)....

Thanks for the pic Nige, new to me..

Nigel, I could just about kiss you for this. However, I guess that would cause you to cause injury on me, so I won't.

Anyway, I went through the whole threads on both Wurgers and T-bolts yesterday, just to cure the itch to get started allready. There I saw that you was planning on building this bird too, and a lot earlier than me.

Are you, and should we perhaps leave it to you? Waddaya say?

Wadda I say?
Firstly,,a simple "thanks for the photo" is MORE than sufficent
Looks like I flew out of Stockholm this morning just in time LOL!

I am still very undecided as to what I'll be building for this,so go for it!
I seem to remember seeing some photos of an orange or red 190 in US markings which sounds like an interesting subject.

Great Nigel. "a simple thanks for the photo" it is! Good to hear you managed to get out of Stockholm though. Stockholmers are...ehrrm...city people. Hard for a country boy like me to understand.

I've also seen something like an orangereddish 190 somewhere, but can't recall where. Looked a bit like on the run from the Reno air races, so that would definately be a centrepiece in in the collection.

Yoohoo! Google rules ok.

Nigel. I found two flamboyant US 190's. If you go here you'll find a diabolicly red one, in colour a bit down, and a red and yellow one a bit further down. Quite a few colour pic there frankly. And if you go here there are b/w pics of the red/yellow and a third one.

I wish you good look with the colour matching .

Theres also color plate of that plane in Ospreys Luftwaffe Sturmgruppe: " Fw 190A-8/R2 OO-L of the 404th FG. Ninth AF, St Trond, January 1945". However it is bright red (same looking color as used in some of tail bands) instead of orange and it has knight insignia of II.(Sturm)/JG4 still remaining in engine cowling, only in left hand side thought.

That plane belonged to Gefreiter Walter Wagner of II.(Sturm)/JG4, and its original callsign was "White 11". It was shot down during Operation Bodenplatte, and belly-landed on USAAF fighter airfield!

Thanks Tuomas.
Thats one I'd be interested in doing. All I would need to source would be the JG insignia from a decal sheet somewhere.
Interesting to see that the undercarriage is missing the bottom cover on both sides.

I was in Turku last week,,,its cold there! Spent some time with my friend Amorella

Isn't that the same as one of the marking options in Eduard's A8/R2 boxing?

Hmm, the campaign starting date is just around the corner. Perhaps I should give it a go as well?
I got two A8s in my stash at the moment, one in 1:72 (Revell kit plus a bunch of AM goodies) and one 1:48 (Eduard, the first release. Yes, I still haven't got around building that one....)

..and a couple more views.....ex II./JG4 A-8 Sturmjäger that put down at St. Trond on 1.1.45 and was repainted in honour of 404th FG CO Col. L Moon. Hence the OO L code. Note the date on the tailfin . Looks much better in its original camo if you ask me.. (Pics are from my own collection via Jim Crow who got the full story from Leo Moon himself)

..time to rummage through the stash....actually I've found two 24 scale Airfix/Heller 190s and associated odd bits, including a Verlinden cockpit (for the belt buckles & instruments) & Third Gruppe decals (for the swastikas/Hakenkreuze. Also have some Rutman resin for a Sturmjäger conversion & replacement wheels for the vinyl tyres/tires. However just looking at the feeble wing/fuselage joint and the oddly angled gear legs I'm starting to feel a little queasy - not sure at all that attempting this would be a wise move. In fact this is probably way beyond my 'skills'. This was a part- started second hand purchase so I've under-taken a little bit of 'de-construction', like ripping the fuselage apart to get at the dark-blue(?!) cockpit, breaking off the tailwheel and one of the cooling fan blades in the process....perhaps this bit of 'work' disqualifies me already (...with any luck campaign leader ?)

I think I will start with a simple Tamiya 190 A3 as a start. Second build might be a Dora.

Looking forward to get started

No such luck, Neil Although I am only second in command (Carl is the Campaign leader), I think it is safe to say that you can start on this build on 1st January.

This would be an interesting conversion with a "backward" modelling aspect to it as well.
Secondly you have not actually worked on it yourself.
Finally, we are here to have fun, so go ahead: Take on the challenge and work on this Butcher bird.

Hi Carl

as proposed earlier in this thread, I would like something like this:

of course it is just a sketch (I did in the past few minutes after reading your post) ... I know others can do such things much better than me.

cheers

Steffen

Hi Seffan,

I used your idea to come up with a ribbon:

What do you think?

Just wondering if a Focke-Wulf Ta-152H would qualify?

Terri, sorry I only saw your post now. This campaign is now open. So take of in those Butcher birds

Mike, excellent ribbon. That looks great and very cool.

The TA 152 is a difficult one. It is definitely in the FW 190 family in my opinion, but under Kurt Tank's own name. However, I would approve it. After all we are here to have fun. I were actually considering entering one as my second build for this campaign.

Carl, has the final word in this as he is the Campaign Leader, but I think he will agree that it is part of the FW 190 family.
