Terri,
You're right, I haven't tackled many 1/72 kits and none with PE so this is a practice run for a few other kits I just got. Here's a little update, soooooo many tiny parts. this is quite a challenge.
I still need to paint the control column.

Looking pretty sharp so far Mark .
Working in 72 scale can be a challenge . One small comment though , the control column is out of scale . Yeaah it's just me whinning about the small stuff

Terri,
I agree. That's why i haven't painted it yet, I'm not happy with it and it doesn't look right to me, the kit control column is too big and the PE control column is too small. I'll have to make one.

What's the size of the PE one ? I should asked on my last post
I'm pretty impressed with the level detail in the PE set for the kit as well as Rodens kit . Just not overwhelmed on how the cowl section is . Lot's of filling and sanding with a seem inside the fuselage ..........................can't win them all I guess .
Cheers friend

Terri,
I was preparing the PE control stick when it shot out of my tweezers and into the carpet.
That sealed my fate to scratchbuild it. I've close the fuselage. Here's some progress pics.

Okay this has been the most frustrating decals I have ever used ! Very , very thick and did not respone to super sol ............but I got them one and the wings mounded . no orange diamounds the one would not come of the paper backing . It did this wierd thing ( see pic ) so they will not be on this build .

Hi all!
Many nice builds so far!
I have started the F-86F-30 Sabre I’ll build for this campaign, one of very few jets here!
As always, I start with all subassemblies and there’s a few of them!
Well, this is an Academy kit so in no time I had the cockpit done!
I used a Cockpit and seatbelt set (“Zoom”) from Eduard and it helped to lift the cockpit as the detail here is OK, but not more.
The wheel wells were painted interior green and washed;
As I won’t use the engine, I glued the cockpit with nose gear well and trunking in place as I did with the tailpipe.
Small discs of plasticard prevents see-trough, but I plan to use the FOD covers.
Then it was a breeze to close the fuselage!
Finally the wings were glued to the fuselage, and the fit was as perfect as you ever could ask for!
Well, there is where I´m at today!
I will be away for almost three weeks, starting one week from now.
This leaves me with only one week to complete my build!
As you understand It won´t be done in a few days, so I´ll have to let this Campaign go.
I´ll show my completed bird here in due time tough!
Cheers!

Not to worrt you just might be able to get her done after all .
I'm extending the finishing date until Oct 15 . With so many builds still going and the workmanship which has been shown it's only fair !

Thanks Terri, you´re an angel !
I might get it done then!
After all, she´s almost ready for the paint-booth by now!
I don´t want to do a bad job due to lack of time, as I´m planning a highly polished aircraft (Alclad Polished Aluminium and regular Aluminium).
Much surface prep that will take it´s time and the paintjob have to be done one step at the time!
Cheers!

many thanks Terri!!
I still hope to get my project done befor the original deadline, but I have had a very bad mood over the last days resulting in zero motivation. Today I progressed a bit on my Heinkel and if I can finish it over the next two or three days I will start my Fokker E.V soon and as it is an OOB project ... fingers crossed ..
All the best

I'm calling this one done. I'm not all that happy about it but I'm glad I uncovered the scheme.
Revell 1/72 Se5a USAAC Aero 101
Built OOB but homemade decals, brass tubing for the exhaust, and the figure converted using parts from the Eduard RFC ww1 crew.
Doing it again? I'd use clear decal film for the roundels or spray them. Sand the rib details away and generally be a lot neater. Probably get a better kit, or research it a bit more to detail it. Don't get me wrong for £2.99 this is excellent fitwise just a bit soft detail. (A roden is probably the opposite). I've got the revell camel, spad 13, d7, and dr1 in the stash and I will be building them.

JP. That's a real polkagris you've got. Whatever you think yourself, it's definately flashy.
Terri, yours might be a tad softer in appearence, but it's beautiful too.
I just can't decide which or these two would get their pilot killed first. They are not especially stealthy.

Some really nice builds going on and finishing, but for me although I could get my B-24 finished I've just found some info that the kit markings are very wrong and thats after I'ved applied 98% of them
So either I finish it wrong post it then chuck it or I bow out. For me this is a no brainer as I don't want to spend time on something thats wrong so Terri sorry but I'm pulling out of this one.
Dam those ref books

Yep Polkagris would not last long over Belgin skies! The aero 101 se5a was post ww1. (no guns on it either) They used these machines around air shows to get support for a proper air force (as opposed to french. I suppose this is a forerunner to the flag f-117. Them Yanks love a bit of razzamatazz. On the other hand the Pflaz is tasteful and understated. And a truly clean and neat build. Top one, Squadron Leader Terri.
Thats a shame Luciano. It looked grand even if it was technically wrong. Understand how those thing can frustrate though.
Agree with ref books. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Should stop research once a build commences

Luciano , I'm very sadden that you are dropping out , but I do understand your frustration with ref's . A D.VaI did a while back the cockpit was scratched , I used the windsock data file as my ref , only to find out a few weeks back that the data file is incorrect !!!
Thank you so much for your time and joinning the Group Build Please show us the pic's once you do have her finally finished , i would love to see it
Bye the way , what is wrong with the markings ?
