good job freehanding that Penny. You can save yourself some grief by making masks
and raising them off the model with white tack so you get a controlled overspray.
The hurricane in particular probably had hard edge scheme, they left the factory
that way but could be soft edged if retouched in the field. (like yours)
I've only just made the same mistake myself with a d.520. But hey you live
and learn. Lets see those stripes.
Herman that job is just out there. I couldn't believe you can really do that on a scale model.
It would be easier to build a x48 modellers workspace in the hanger where the plane is kept.
8 foot high microscale bottles and all.
As for the SE5a. I rigged the tailplane and added the exhausts tonight.
Collasped the undercarriage and repainted it according to Keiths advice.
Aerilon control lines to add and I found some decals for the inspection windows.
It all adds to the overall look of complexity. Love ww1 planes.
If you thought the outside of them look complicated I just got PART of poland
PE for D7s and Snipe with interior. I'm going to need some help with that stuff.
amazing amount of detail. Cocking hammers for guns in 1/72!! Not sure I'm
up to that but I'l give it a shot later in the year.

OK. Here is the Mystery plane in all its unfinished glory!
It is a 1/32 Revell Supermarine Spitfire Mk.22/24. This mould was originally made by Matchbox WAY back in the 1970s. It still has the Matchbox code on the sprues, PK-501. Matchbox got a bit ambitious with this one and I am sure they didn't have anyone test build it before they released it as it is a dog to build. I think it has more filler in it than any other model I have ever built, It is a wonder the undercarriage can hold it up!!
All it is waiting for it the green component of the camouflage, the prop and spinner painted and installed, and the wheels attached.
It is no longer a mystery!

Don't have the vision for it . How did you find the detail in the kit's ?
Warren , I think it still is a mystery in some way's . Landiing gear is still holding with all that extra weight from the putty . Nice job done her so far .

Thanks for the kind words everybody. BTW, Penny that freehand camo in 1/144 scale is totally sick (in a good way). That would drive me nuts.
Here is a pic of where I'm at now. Just a few little bits to glue on and then I'll take some final shots. After that she's done and I'll move on to something easier. I decided to go with an overall flat coat on this one because it was just to shiny and the pictures just couldn't pick out any details.
Should have her wrapped up by the weekend.

Good evening all.
Finally finished the Mystery aircraft, Revell's 1/32 Spitfire Mk.22/24. As you can see Terri there are quite a few stripes on the old girl!
Good idea for a campaign Terri.

Great build, Warren. It looks very nice. I can see have both friends and foes waiting in the background to join the Spitfire.

Hi Jesper.
Both built long ago. They are just boxes full of spare sprues etc I haven't been through yet to take off the spares. You can't hurry these things..
Isn't it amazing how bad parts of a kit can disappear when it is photographed?

Hey guys.
Here is my finished entry for the campaign. This is the Academy 1/48 scale F-16. The decals are Eagle Strike. The only snag I encountered was some slight silvering on the "31 Tiger" decal on the right side fuselage. Other than that it was a great kit and awsome decals, but I'm glad it's done. Here are some finished pic.
I finished this one off with a flat coat of clear because the gloss was so shiny I was having a hard time getting the pictures without the glare. It actually looked a lot better all glossy though.

Very nice Hermon ! Hope you get your vision back soon ! Glad to have you partake in the GB
I was able get some more progress in over the weekend . Have to touch up the grey stripes , some were a little on the short side . The lozenge decals are really thick causing a ard time for them to settle down . Still a ways to go but I'm getting there ...............

Well..
Warren.... you made quite a beautiful job tarting up that Old dog of a kit.... she loks great, and yes it is odd how you can spend hours checking your work over and the first pic you take....theres a glaring booboo, truth is many wouldnt notice but of course you do and it suddenly becomes glowing and flashing and screams "look at me!"
Hermann.... what a striking build, it turned out well, silvering or not, you wouldnt notice from the pics had you not said I think. Black can be so difficult to model and get to look real, with that fine linework you managed it well. I do agree a gloss or at least satin finish would look nicer but...hey she looks just dandy like that.
Terri.... I just know this is gonna turn out just great...... I don't need to say more really just yet.
Now I must put my Albi back to bed and finish the DVII for this campain.

Hey guys, Thanks for the kind words. I've got 2 of the 1/144 scale kits finished. I'll get the pics posted up this evening (if the T'storms hold off). These little thingys can drive a person to drink.... LOL

Finally the Lizzie is finished,
I tried making decals for some but yellow does not work against black unless you use white paper and make the surround black. This shows under flash but is far less obvious under natural light. Flash necessary as we are having a "British" summer.
Thanks Terri for a brilliant campaign idea, the models coming out are really different.

That definitely has stripes on it Andrew. You need sunnies to look at it!

Saw it in Pilot Mag and thought I've got to do it. It's not a particularly good model but it was fun to do. Anyway I blame Terri for starting the whole thing off. What next? checks?, spots?, camo? surely not.
