Hi the rigging dodger here, (dodging finishing the SE5a) as I said earlier, started a P47 out the stash. Tamiya, pretty much OOB and falls together. Got her almost ready to tackle the BMF for the first time ever. I hope those bottles of Alclad I bought back in 19-- *coughs* are still good. will basr coat her over the next couple of days.
Boxtop nuff said really.
I intend doing the box art A/C....maybe I should have saved it for the checkerboard campain.
I'm no expert on P47's at all, but the kit looks very good, I'm sure theres shortfalls but I just wanted a simple OOB build.

Hi terri
lets assume the Fokker E.V story has no happy end, would this apply as "Stripe", it is one of the Snake Ju 52's from ZG 26.
Edit: pic removed, see below
Just started that model yesterday, as I urgently need a Ju 52 in my collection (having 4 or 5 kits in the stack) and as i consider this one of the best models ever done in 48 .. but it has potential to become one of my eternal projects (it is huge, I cannot even build it at my normal work place ... Well, I could but I would have to clean it up
all the best

Steffen your link doesn't work.. I assume that page doesn't allow any direct pic linking but instead links everything to frontpage.
You have to download to image on your hard drive and then upload it to imageshack or equivalent site.

Sorry Tuomas !
I can see it?! , it is maybe your browser or proxy settings that do not allow linking to Russian sites ... or maybe they disturb hotlinking .. but as i wrote I can see the picture.
here is a link: http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww2/t/220/2/0/42

Hi JP
Thanks I did not know that Wings palette does that ... stealing stuff and then being picky ...
The original profile is from Luftwaffe im Fokus Ed.4 and i cannot imagine they gave their go for electronic reproduction ... so you may just wait until I have my kit finished... I will build it anyway (now Burma Banshee nearing it's finish ...)
will adjust the first post
cheers

Ah Littorio the horror of academy decals! There is no sign of
the pain you have suffered on the end result though.
Personally they have always behaved themselves with me but I'm
sure old crows checkers will bite me now that I've said that.
A bit of hand cramp and the se5a is rigged. actually front and rear
centre section bracing are missing but they will be done with
sprue. as will the u/c.
Next up add the exhausts paint in the underside details. vents and
the baffle plate. A dark hole should be enough. or do I dare cut it out
at this late stage. Nice photos of what it should look like on wingnuts.com
I think I'll revisit the build order on the next biplane I build this is all getting
a little fiddly now should have painted everything first. That and do the research
first before building.
Close up you can see the glue marks. With my new touch'n'flo there will be no more of these in future.

Luciano, Academy decals aren't my favourite either. If they don't break they soak down like armour plating. Thick and heavy. I like your Liberator though. One of the stripest so far!

Thanks Tony and John-Paul, the issue I'm having with the decals is that although thin some are out of register and they won't conform around shapes even with 'Set and Sol' without leaving small ripples.
The main area this is noticeable is around the engine cowlings.

Your B24 looks great Luciano , can't comment on AD/decals . Never built any of their kits before .
Looks good JP , you did well with the rigging . Yup it's easier on the WW1 to have every painted first . When I first started doing WW1 I did the same thing and had one h#ll of time with the painting . Are you going to leave the rigging clear ?

certainly not! how i get it coloured now it is installed is another matter though.
I'll try gently to draw the side of a brush along it. Will see how we go.
Painting everything first makes test fitting even more critical with biplanes then.
I'll bear that in mind. And plan on getting everything painted and weathered
prior to rigging. but I quite like rigging, it is theraputic, like knitting I suppose.
/it is hard to save all the fun till the end
My next few ww1 builds will be fokker d.7s and a dr1 so not so much rigging to do.

Jaypee yellow is Tamiya flat yellow and lots of thin coats. I like the SE, last time I did something similar I painted the top of the assembled fuselage, lower wing and tail and the underside of the upper wing, then rigged then painted the bits left
Luciano like the B-24 I have a pic of a spotty one, it would look great but no one would believe it
Lizzie moved on a bit this week
Starting to think about decals, some roundels I have in stock but numbers will have to be made from scratch, well decal paper and printer. First time, wish me luck
btw Prop has gone AWOL aaagh hope I can find it

Looks great Andrew ! the black and yellow really stand out . They go well together .
Jp , have you tried using a sharpie to colour the lines with ? Either way JP you did a fantastic job on the rigging !

Hi Terri, I think that was the idea, hoping that budding fighter pilots would shoot at the target rather than the demented wasp towing it, but I do like it! For the record black decals made on clear decal sheet work fine on a yelllow background, yellow does not work at all on a black background. However, I have a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a fox ha ha
Unfortunately I can't do it until next week.

Is secretly building A Quite stripey DVII more to follow...... SE5a is awaiting rigging..or the confidence to start it.
Love the Lysander, most definately a striking paint job.
Jaypee, nice work...I love the rigging, something I shamedly have found myself shying away from on my wingnut SE5a....I think I need Terri to be more firm make me do it ;-P

Hear yah loud and clear there JP !
Keith , put down all other projects and start with the rigging on the SE5a . Only way to over come your fears is to confront them !! In other words if you don't start you will have to sweep the tarmack with a three bristle tooth brush on your hands and knees with out the aid of knee pads . If I find one speck of dust you will have to start over ................Do I make myself clear !!!!!
Come on Keith you can do it ! We are all pulling for you !!!

Well I cracked the wipe on myself here and got the cockpit finally finished . I was in a slump there for a while .
Now I can mate the two surfaces together and add all the PE to the exterior . Still have to add the valve springs . Have this habit of always breaking then off !

Added a pilot. Head and right arm from eduard's RFC 1917 set. body, kits own.
I cut out a whole for the engine firewall (two thickness of plastic there. I'll do that job prior to rigging in future
The details on the kit are somewhat soft and since this is a cartoonish scheme I thought I'll make the lines
for panels etc extra dark and thick done with a sharpie. I know it is not realistic but it looks better than just the bare plastic. Still have the exhausts and horizontal stabilisers to add.
