Wow times short, 4 days to go, had my modelling timer interupted with 4 busy days but am still hopeful to complete on time.

I have to say the Eduard glazing is beautiful, thin clear as glass and no distortions.

Painted, decalled, touched up in places...weathering under way, hoping for a few dry days to flatcoat and weather then add the final bits and rig....watch this space.

Havent been able to photo her, been almost dark by I got home each night, hopefully tomorrow.

I love making a deadline in a timely manner!

Always trying to add a bit of skill testing with every model, I had fun with this modestly priced kit. A few things will get touch ups. (tail wheel needs to be redone in grimy black to match the main wheels). Overall, however I'm pleased.

The basic kit was modified with an old True Details PE set and resin wheels.

Mods:

Various scratch built plumbing in cockpit
Wire brake lines
Cut out and repositioned control surfaces
Brass tube for center line cannon.
Used propeller blades and tail wheel from Hobbycraft kit.
Aftermarket decal set.

Great fun. Thanks for the campaign.

Cheers,
Fred

She looks really really nice Keith. I'm impressed you quickly you zeroed in on finishing this build so fast at such a high craftsmanship level.

Needless to say, even though its not the scale I usually build in, you've inspired me to pick up that kit.

Getting near completion here.
The bird is on it's feet, exhaust stains are done, tail light attached and wing tip lights painted. Dryfitting the canopy middle section revealed a somewhat loose fit, gotta do do something about that. Guess I'd better shim it with styrene sheet to get a tighter fit in order for it to withstand the bracing wire.
And that antenna mast really seems to have a problem with me. It came off again! I must have gotten some future/flat base mixture overspray to the spot on the canopy where it's glued to when I accidentallly started airbrushing the final coat without the mast after I knocked it off for the first time. I quickly noticed that though and re-attached the mast before continuing, but it could have gotten some overspray, resulting in an easily failing joint with styrene cement.
I guess it's time for super glue....

Fred - Nice job. I like the cockpit detail - it really stands out.

Kornbeef - Like Terri said, the second picture looks like a real aircraft. Applause!

I got the decals on my Bf109G-14. Normally I don't have problems with Hasegawa decals, but these curled terribly. There were several moments of near-panic trying to unfold them without tearing.
Sorry about the lighting this time - used my phone for a quick snap:

One thing I had forgotten was how many stencils a fully-stenciled Bf109 can have. When you think about it, if all our campaign participants fully-stenciled their 109's, we'd have: 42 "Nicht betreten!", 497 "Zu___" cowl fastener stencils, and 568 (?) frame numbers applied? Crazy. Or maybe that's just me

looking promising, flatcoated today, a little heart in mouth when the airbrush decided to have a tantrum but cleaning it twice during spraying helped. Got the aerial on and rigged.

Just have the lights etc to pick out and detail then its dun I hope..tomorrow YAY

Tom that G's looking mighty fine too

Done.... of course I could spend days weeks months tweaking, weathering and washing but I'm happy with her now...almost forgot the cannons though.

Now I have to work out where the pic goes in the gallery or wherever I have to put it...my first ever completed campaign YAY

Pretty close to the deadline, but my entry's finished.

This build went surprisingly smootly, without those baldness-inducing mishaps that seem to pop up during pretty much every build of mine.
Even though there's still things I feel I could have done better, overall I'm quite happy how it turned out.

The pilot: Major Eino Luukkanen

Damaging his ealier mount, MT-417, on a forced landing after being hit by enemy AA on 19th of June 1944, Luukkanen received MT-415 as his personal mount. In a period of little over a month, he shot down 16 (17 in more recent references) enemy aircraft flying the MT-415.
All in all, he scored 56 aerial victories during WW2, making him the third highest ranking fighter ace in Finland.

Thanks for running this awesome campaign, I had a blast!

Finished my Hasegawa 1/48 109e. Built completely out of the box with the kit decals. Could have done with some weathering and a few more details, but I'm reasonably happy with this as it meets my very average standards.

Well, 1 hour to go before the deadline and I finally got mine done, only for my camera to die and now I have no pictures. I can't get to my daughters house now to borrow hers for photos, so if I get pictures up tomorrow can I still have a ribbon. If not, no biggie, I'll put the piccies up anyways.

Cheers

Still Sept. 19 here in CST, USA, and just finished and took pix of my entry:

1/32 Bf109G-14, flown by Franz Doerr of III./JG5, built from the Hasegawa kit with some minor scratch details and kit decals. The scoreboard on the tail was fairly unusual for spring 1945.

My images have been uploaded to the campaign directory:

Eetu - great attention to detail - it really shows on the finished product.
Grant- Nice work. I think it looks excellent! You should be pleased.

Terri- Thanks for a great campaign!
