[snip] Hermon, I love your attitude. If this Campaign is going to be as much fun as you describe, maybe I'd better go get the 1/24th VFS kit to do here instead of the 1/48 Academy I have in the stash, because apparently size MIGHT matter. What do you think ?? (and remember, YOU will have to explain this to the minister for War and Finance, and being on the other side of the planet is no obstacle to her wrath )]
Well Damian I would be able to see what I was building in 1/24, but as you said the budget could not take a hit like that so I will stay with a 1/48 kit. BTW Damian does the Minister for War and Finance come with a moinker like (wife)?
It looks like Vance's second ribbon is what we will use for this campaign, does anyone have an idea for a banner? I have several but it has been my experiance that the more the better to choose from.

Great story, I knew that the P-40 was a match for the Bf 109 / Hurricane / Spitfire in 1940. I had assumed that combat experience improved them before America joined the war.
I'm surprised at the reference to the "Truman Commission" and after the war. I had assumed the commission would have been disbanded or renamed after Truman left the Senate to become Vice President.
I'm no artist and I don't have Photoshop, so I'm not gonna volunteer. But boy to I need a new banner!

D, I just so happen to have the 1/24 scale VFS kit in my stash.
BTW, since (as you say) size SHOULD matter.......perhaps I SHOULD be the one to explain the extra expense to your Minister of War and Finance. ....oh, I may have crossed the line there.

@ Mark: I just downloaded paint from the link that Vance gave in this thread, but I at the moment can not make heads or tails of it. I am also fighting to get my Window One Note to work
@ Herman: How much did the VFS kit cost when you bought it? Did SWMBO show any signs of offing you?
@ Frederick: We would love to have you join, would that be a 1/144 P-40?
Well its sand man time

Robert, I bought my kit from Squadron a couple of years ago when they were trying to get rid of their remaining stock. The original price was something like $125.00 but mine was discounted to $59.00. It's a really nice kit but lacks alot of detail in crucial areas like the cockpit and wheel wells. I'm gonna build it for this campaign and also build and paint a little AVG tiger cartoon character that Jean-Luc sent me a while back. I've been looking forward to this for a long time.

Hey we are legal now, Chuck made us so (THANKS).
@ Vance: could you pm me to send the ribbon that most of us chose, you did a great job.
@ Herman: here we go P-40s and Zombies, what do ya think?
@ Damian: same as Herman.
@ Mark: Chuck heard you and was gracious enough to select our campaign.
@ Stefan: I think the time frame should fit everyones schedule, it is far enough off.
@ Tuomas: I can not wait to see some of the information that you have to share.
@ Frederick: OK we have a year to play with ideas and hopefully not tire of it.
@ Chuck: Thanks for the link.

We need (3) more to get this on the campaign page. I know this is a year off, but just thought that I would post the place to sign up again to entice others to join us in our cause for the P-40.

@Mark: The time span makes it a problem, I will just have to keep bumping I guess. Maybe Herman, Damian, David, You, Me, and the rest could all share information regarding the kits, builds, conversions, photos, units, pilots, mechanics, and any other itmes that could keep the interest going. I know that Herman (Voncuda) the wingman for this campign is in many campaigns so the start of this (P-40 Worktruck/Workhorse) is slated for a time when all could be enrolled with far enough advance notice. Damian Rigby (Aussie Reg) is running the Zerstorer campaign at the same time.

Hiya Rob
I'm happy to help out with the interest level. I am in the habit of throwing a regular bump in every 2 weeks for the campaigns I have cooking. Posting pics of kits and items of relevance to the campaign will help.
Torsten (BlackWidow) and I are Co-Captaining the Zerstorer Campaign, but I also have my own Anti-Shipping Campaign and Ski's Only Campaign starting in November this year, so I'm gunna be one busy puppy !! But as my wife points out, it keeps me out of her way
Cheers, D

Folks, I stepped into it and posted a list of P-36/ P-40 kits:
http://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=forums/155305&page=1
Take a look. Is ther a way to post a PDF to this board? Cutting and pasting from World looks terrible.

Lots more than I expected to find. I'm a little hesitant now to go after the AM stuff and the references.
Most of the un-numbered kits I snagged from "In Detail" Vol 61 & 61. Those lists are now abut 11 years old. The numbered stuff I snagged from Squadron, Gewat Models, Roll, and Old Model Kits.
