Another one done the way Russel loved to build. He'd love it.

Thanks guys Really got back into modelling through this again. Nearly went cross eyed airbrushing that camo in 1/72 but really pleased with how it turned out. Couple of pics are in the campaign gallery

Work had slowly been progressing on the TR-1A with working on the wings and fuselage but disater struck.
Due to the poor fit I opted to deviate from the instructions by attaching the wing pods before attching the wings to the fuselage this way it would allow me to easily fill and sand the gaps. I also had to wedge a piece of plasticard in the wing root to sread it out to fit the fuesalge better.
and then the wings were attached.
and this is where the problem has occured, the wings dihedral and root it off due to the bad fit of the fueslage. the pods that I attached in the only way they would have fitted aren't parallel to the fuslage. Also the tail plane is also off kilter.
I've managed to get the pods off the wings but that has left some considerable damage.
.
I've just lost the will with this kit and have consined it to the part built stash until I can pluck up the will to fix it (I should have realised it wouldn't go to plan as I built the Special Hobby Andover with issues).
I'm stil partaking in the campaign. I have the Star trek Enterprise from Russel's stash but i'd like to take my time with that (as I want to wire it with LED's)so I'm going to look for another kit in the stash, maybe even a part started.

So I've looked through the stash and I've decide on this.
It's another Czech kit but should hopefully be a bit easier than the TR-1A.
Hopefully I'll get started on this tomorrow

John---A fine looking -106. Few interceptors have the lines of the Delta Dart.
Sam---The Tony really looks good. Not an easy scheme to replicate in that scale.
Allen---Sorry about the TR-1 mishap. Just chalk it up and move on to another project.
Best wishes,
Ian

So sad to see the recon bird land in the hanger queen drawer, Allen. I know the feeling, though, when a build becomes frustrating. Hopefully, the Airabonita soothes the frustration.
@ Naseby; sweet paint on the 88. The splinter pattern looks awesome.
John, I see you already threw a Dart into the gallery. Well done!!

Hi Group,
John, your F-106 is coming out beautiful!
Sam, Russell really liked the palm/wavy camo on Tonys. You did a wonderful job! Welcome back to modeling!
Allen, I look forward to you taking the Enterprise where no man has gone before! The Airbonita looks fun!
Naseby, wonderful Ju 88. I love the yellow cowls.
Phil, So happy you made the Uhu work.
Jessica, Russell was a proponent of airliner models. I can hardly await the Viscount taking the runway.
Ben, wonderful work.
The rest, I am trying to catch up on this thread. What I've seen fills me with appreciation.

Thanks Fred, Ben and Ian for the kind words !!
It was my first US Aircraft kit built, a simple and nice Hasegawa.
I bet some things could be better, but this is a learning process and most important of all.. I had a lot of fun doing it!

At this writing there are only 9 superb models pictured in the gallery. With 58 days left in the campaign, there's still oodles of time for the other 40 or so enlisted to complete their entry and get them in. I really hope that can happen.
My entry is coming along slowly, and will make it; unless I get hit by a meteorite. I'm getting closer to the primer stage:
Still have some filling, sanding, and polishing to do. I'm shooting for primer over the weekend. The gear is already painted and completed, ready to attach.

Update on my build:-
I have masked and spray painted the white strips and brush painting the nose, I am glad that I did due to the very thick decals
Ben I continue to be disappointed with by the number of modeler who sign up for campaigns and never complete their entry, if you are not going to build don't sign up.
One more thing if you are running a campaign show up on it once and a while and also post a banner !
Venting over for now.
My entry will be finished this weekend.
Model on!

Richard------Pony looks good so far. Looking forward to the finished project.
Ben-----Sorry the CF-100 is giving you fits. Looks like you are winning the battle though. That will be a great looking project when it's done.
Best wishes,
Ian

Glad to see your P-51 coming along so well, Richard. It looks great, and you'll be done in no time.
As far as a banner goes; I was not aware one was required by forum rules. Makes no difference anyway; I don't know how to make or post one.
Also, I carry no disappointment in anything or anyone other than my own work. Campaigns are intended to be fun, and I do remain a happy old modeller rather than a cranky old modeller. Actually, I thought I was doing a fairly good job playing host to this campaign.

Ben you are doing a good job with this campaign and your blogs!
My venting is due too past campaign experiences.

Hear Hear! It is reassuring to know that it isn't just me who feels this way. I have only been a member for a couple of years here, and I have to say it is rather galling when you sign up for a campaign, acquire the requisite model, wait nearly a year to start it, and then only a handful of people finish it. I know real life will get in the way, but for heaven's sake you get 6 months to build the thing! The most ridiculous one recently (to me anyway) was the Helicopter Crossover campaign - 46 sign ups, only 6 posted pics in the gallery, and one of them wasn't even signed up for the campaign . The real frustration is, I know there are no solutions to this.

I think that part of the problem is that there is such a long time between proposal and build. Some may have lost interest or just forgotten about the campaign.
I am not as concerned about the finishers if there is good participation.
Cheers Rob.

It looks like the discussion is straying slightly into a subject that may deserve it's own thread.
As far as the CF-100 goes, I keep filling and sanding, filling and sanding. I think the cows already came home in the time spent doing this, and I'm still not happy . Remember, this is going to be NMF, so I'd like the surface to be smooth as possible.
No sense in taking photo's of every time I splash on some Mr Surfacer 1000 and sand it out. Hopefully my next photo will show a primed model ready for metalizer.

Hi Ben
Your right let get back to focus on the campaign
I have used Dupli- Color flat black filler primer and top coated with Dupli-Color gloss black and then Alclad and I was happy with the finish.
I picked up the paint from the local CTC store.
