A very nice build, Phil, even with the paint issues. Your fix is rightly done. I can see you'll soon be in the Gallery.

A really fast looking 'Dart', John. Nicely done.
I can see you'll be in the gallery fairly quickly as well. Guess I had better wake up and get busy on the CF-100.

Thanks Ian !!

Here's my progress, I was watching the Canadian F1 GP Qualifying between decals

I also added the Flat Black touches were it was needed.
Still have to paint some Steel / Jet Exaust parts, and clear Red.
Then finishing the wheel bay doors, Fuel tanks and finally the Canopy.

I'm more used to weather tanks and APC's than Aircrafts so I might need some pointers there..

John------The -106 really looks good. In answer to your weathering question, you won't see a lot of that on Air Defense Command interceptors. They were usually pretty pristine, except for some dulling of the finish. There would be fluid leaks from fuel caps and leakage from actuators but that would probably be about it. Probably some marks and dings on the tips of the drop tanks too. Nicely done!

Regards,

Ian

Thanks Ian !
I worked some more, but it's too dark to get some decent shots.
Still to do:
Wheel bay doors, canopy, antenna and fuel tanks.

Looking good John!

I finally got around to starting the decals and when I did....
I found I had not painted the nose so I did that.
Decals next.

Cheers Rob.

Emerging from the shadows of the distant past, the Viscount's pilots have some nice leather easy chairs to sit in now.

And soon all that lovely Mach 2 detail will disappear into the cavernous fuselage, never to be seen again.

Trans Canada Airlines pilots do not drink while they're flying.

Now if you were to offer some Laphroaig after they land, they just might be interested...

That's a good thing......I do remember as a teenager boarding a certain U.S. airline (that shall remain nameless) and the pilot had the stewardess sitting on his lap in the flight deck as HE was taking oxygen. Fortunately we made it.

Ian

Working on the F-106 Canopy

Aircraft Grey first, then the Copper details and the Clear Blue.

I will take Ian's advice on the weathering for this one.

Hi guys!
Sorry that you didn't hear anything from me lately, but a few weeks ago my 12 years computer completly crashed and I had to buy a new one (Windows 8 .... ). Meanwhile it works nearly the way I want and slowly I get back to the online life
Anyway, in the past few weeks I had only little time for building models but at least I can show you a little progress. So here is my B-25. Still a way to go ....

The wings are not glued to the fuselage, just sticked to see how the fitting is.

Glad you got your computer back up, Torsten, so we can see what your doing. The B-25 is really coming together nicely.

A little more progress on the other kit I'm building for this, needless to say, didn't get time to get a matt coat on the 219, I might now push the 280 on to the point where that wants matt coating and get them both done together.

tailplane now on! its begining to look the part!

And I'm in the process of fettling the engine nacelles. which to be honest look like they will need quite a bit of test fitting, trimming and filler!

I did read a review of this kit in a magazine recently, and the reviewer did say this kit needed no filler, which is not my experience at all! don't get me wrong, it will build into a very nice model, it just has the feel to me as I'm building it, of a limited run cottage kit, a very good limited run cottage kit mind, this isn't really a criticism of this kit, i am really enjoying building it - honest!

You could always do the first test flight version where they flew it as a glider because the engines weren't ready...

Or maybe the first powered flight where they left the engine cowlings off?

I'm sure i'll get the nacelles on Jessica, having the engines uncowled did cross my mind right at the start of this, but that would mean either aftermarket or scratchbuilding.
on the other hand, i don't think i mentioned this but this kit does come with some what if schemes, and as part of that there is an optional butterfly tail and a full set of engine nacelles, which are the same as the Me 262 (jumo 003?) That have like the rest of the kit very nice fine recessed panel lines.
p.s. Guess who's got a brand new internet phone!

As promised some photos of the finished kit. Not the best photos had to resort to my mobile phone which doesn't seem to cope with the photobay very well
