Managed to get the aluminum coat on the kit last night and this evening just got the green camo squiggles onto the kit. Im really pleased with how it has turned out as it has been a long time since I airbrushed camo like this on a 1/72 kit. That and not building any models for the past year made me feel a bit rusty with the airbrushing too. (also managed to get another two part started kits up to airbushing and got them airbrushed as well I think I am on a roll)

Got back from a weeks holiday yesterday so today after all the chores and a bike ride I managed to get some more done to the TR-1a. This is the stage I'm up to at the end of plan today.
And a quick test fit of some of the sub assemblies

So nice to see the Berry clan is making their move with some high caliber modeling.
Sam, I'm glad your pleased with the airbrushed squiggle camo; it does look good and offers no indication you may have tried( in futility) to retire from modeling.
Great progress on your high flying 'spy' plane, Allen. She sure does look like a clean build. Well done

Hi all
I have completed my Sword 1/72 P-47N this evening. My first P-47 and I'm pretty pleased with it.
The decals needed a lot of persuading to conform to the surface. The two national insignia on the wings did break up. There is not enough black trim for the border of the blue areas. Fans of stencils will be in heaven with this kit, yes there are a lot.
All in all I would highly recommend this kit.
Thanks to Tom [Mcleod] for the campaign, a great tribute to our friend Russell Anderson.
Well Russell this one is for you.

Hi all
Many thanks for the kind comments
I had to spend some time removing several hundred images from the Kitmaker gallery so I could upload my images to the campaign gallery.
Anyway my images are sitting proudly with some excellent finished kits.

Hi Group,
I just checked in after an absence - what great models!
I have a window of opportunity in June to start building again. I'll tackle Russel's Firefly.

Well, my Lancaster is complete and uploaded into the gallery. The plane depicted is a Canadian manufactured Mk.X (early version built to Mk III standards) in the markings of VR*R, "Ropey", 419 Squadron, RCAF, "The Moose Squadron". This has been a very enjoyable campaign and everybody's models have looked outstanding. I will continue to keep tabs on the projects that are still ongoing in the thread. Most importantly, this build is dedicated to all the crews of 419 Sqdn., RCAF, and of course...Russell.
Best wishes,
Ian

Ben----Nice progress on the CF-100, even though you are having to beat it into submission. A tough project is one you can be even more proud of at the end. Looking forward to more.

Thanks Ian,
I still have a lot of work ahead... weapons & wheels bay.
Lot of things to paint...
I also noticed a mistake, just 10 mins ago...the engine is sitting on the proper structure but too deep inside the fuselage, it should have a small lip outside.
Oh well, this evening progress:
Details to work on tomorrow..

Painting weapons & wheel bay doors, etc..

hello all!
its been a bit quiet from me forum wise lately, because work has just gone crazy, plus a long weekend at an 80's festival in the middle of may all took up a lot of my time ( i was the best Freddie Mercury there btw!)
however i was managing to put in 10 mins here, half an hour there with the 219 and its coming along really nicely.
two views of the cockpit, the instrument panel is an etched piece, supplied with the kit.
i decided to put on the supports for the "stags antlers" antennae.
of course i broke one off!
a quick fix with a cut down pin.
and now the real head scratcher moment of this build! i painted it all over with xtracolor RLM 76. later on when it seemed to be dry i mottled the topside with xtracolor RLM 75, and it all looked very nice.
until the next day when i noticed that the grey mottle on the wings and tail had somehow turned green!
my first thought was that somehow i had used the wrong colour, but there wasn't a tin of anything that looked like the shade of green that i could somehow have mistakenly used, plus i'm sure i would have noticed that i was thinning down green, not grey! what may have happened is that the RLM 76 overall colour was touch dry, but not fully dry when i mottled it, and it affected the grey by bleed through, turning it greenish.
back on track! i simply re-mottled over the affected RLM 75 mottles, then oversprayed the entire topside with a very thin mix of RLM 76 to make the mottle a lot more subtle and soft edged.
and where i am now.
decals on, landing gear fixed, missing gear doors scratch built, to finish i just need to put on the exhausts, apply a matt coat, and fit the rest of the aerials and wing lights.
