well the 219 is nearly finished, these pics are about 4 days old since i took them i've been getting those fiddly aerials on (at time of posting i only have the main "stags antlers" to put on) i'm leaving them as late in the build as possible because i still have to do a bit of touching up around the canopy, because when i unmasked it, there was quite a bit of dust or paint flakes stuck on the inside, it seems that when it was airbrushed theres a gap through the front wheel well, that must have let some loose bits inside get blown onto the inside of the canopy. no big deal though as i only use white glue on my canopies, so it was an easy matter to pop it off, clean it, re kleer it for good measure and stick it back,it just needs a little touch up around the join, and its a proper invisible repair!

I really do like that, Phil. What an excellent airbrush working. She looks great.

thanks ben! i replaced my old faithful compressor last year with a full tank version, and the steady air supply has helped my airbrushing no end.
i just took this pic which brings this build totally up to date

the first nose aerials on, they are kit supplied p/e items so were reasonably easy to fit and bend to the correct configuration.

@Allen: how much tape did you use on the canopy? It looks like my work area

Love the P39.
@Rob: the F4 is coming along nicely.
@Ben: I know what you mean, still like what you have done with the CF100.
@Phil: the Owl came out really good.
I have a question regarding the A-26: were the landing gear and wheels natural metal or painted chromate?

Bob, the A-26 photos I have seen, the struts and hubs looked to be dull silver.
Regards,
Ian

Thanks Ben , Bob!
I had to touch up a couple of spots that I masked wrong

but that was easy enough. Still have to touch up a couple of the colors.
Cheers Rob.

There' still 43 days left in the campaign; should be ample time to finish that lovely little Hellcat.
I know of at least 4 other quality builds that are going to be in the gallery before the close, for sure. Certainly, that will compliment the 10 wonderful builds that are already there.
It would be a very pleasant surprise; a gift to all of us if there were way more completions than a third of all who entered.

Hi Bob,
Here are some pix of an A-26 legs (and about 50 shots - mainly interior - in this gallery:

These, and others I've seen, are coated with an aluminum paint.

Rob---The Rhino really looks good. Your work on the NMF areas is really nice.
Allen---Nice XFL-1. Glad you bounced back with another project.
Eric---The Dragonfly looks good. Those are neat airplanes. Used to see some of them from ANG units when I was growing up. They are almost like a sports car....you actually have to look down into the cockpit when you stand next to them.
Best wishes,
Ian

Hi all
Nice progress everyone!

I've regretfully had to pull out of the campaign due to having to concentrate on reviews - realistically, there's no way I'll much of anything done to the Mistel before the finishing date. I'll potter along at my own pace once I can get some proper time at the workbench later in the year.
All the best
Rowan

Hi Rowan. Thank you for letting us know and not leave us wondering.
With life's everything in the way, six months really isn't all that long for campaign builds, and I myself have chosen to lean toward reviews and downsize in campaigns. So I know what you mean.
Sometimes I feel my brain wants to build way more than my body, my family, and time will allow. That's life.

Many thanks for all the replies.
Anyone have an idea what camo scheme or country Russell favored?
As it is a tribute build, plus Russell did have a Dragonfly he didn't get the chance to build, I was hoping to complete this one in a scheme he would have liked...
