It's been a while, but modest progress has been made on my 1/32 SH A5M Claude. This is one of the "simpler" Special Hobby kits - no resin.
The cockpit is OOB other than drilling out lightening holes in the seat and the sidewalls. I ran into a problem, however, when I put the instrument panel in the "right" place - the "boxes" on the sidewalls fouled the panel, so I subsequently had to chop them in half. No one will be able to see them anyways...
I also worked on the engine, which was a 2-part plastic assembly with a plastic ignition ring. I added the wiring and pushrods and am calling it good. Resin would be better, but the kit parts aren't bad. Once in the cowl, not much will be seen except the very front.
Next, I've worked on some basic subassemblies, and drilled out the exhausts.
The tailplanes were too thick at the root, so had to be sanded down. The wheels didn't fit in the "pants," so had to be sanded down. The cockpit opening wasn't even between the fuselage halves, so had to be sanded....you get the pattern.
Now the build is going to get into a Tenax, putty, and cursing phase, so it may be a bit before another update.
I'm thrilled to see all the different aircraft in this group build. There's a lot of variety, so thanks to all for sharing!
