You are going to love that kit Terri. I started mine yesterday and am impressed by it.

Are you going to share a few pic's ?

Only thing that I'm a little disappointed in is the instrument decals . This will be replaced on my next Ultracast order along with their seat with belts .

I'll have some pics up in the ETO/Western Front thread very soon, Terri. I just finished a wash in the cockpit tonight, so once I have it sealed under a flat coat I'll get some pics up before I move on to the next steps. Like you, I also found the instrument decals to be subpar especially since the markings are by Cartograf. I replaced them with Airscale dials in my build with decent results.

Funny enough, I got the new Tamiya Ki-61 recently too. Both kits are very impressive. I can't wait to crack that one open either.

Nice seeing tamiyas new Ki-61 being popular. I really hope it ecourages them to bring us some more Japanese aircraft!

This is my haul from the postman yesterday and the day before. I think this is the first time I noticed this thread AND had something to share!

I got the Bristol on a whim and fairly cheap to toss onto my growing WWI stash. Having myself recently receiving Tamiyas new Ki-61 I too decided to find some different decals, no matter how slight the difference i got Life Likes 244th part 3 sheet. Im currently thinking either #1 or #3, shown on the front.

While I was at it I decided to get Life Likes Me 109 part 3 primarily to get Gunther Spechts G-5AS(bottom scheme). Id like to get this particular project going sooner than later and definitely before eduard gives me another nicer kit that come with a marking schemes Ive already got decals for

Terri,
Does that mean a total of 14 Mustangs in your stash, or 14 Ming kits? That surely would be a world record.

Terri

Terri,
That's a relief, as a 11 Ming kits would be rather excessive no matter how one looks at it.

My Tony landed in my "STASH" a few days ago.

certainly not the last, and only, despite some Hasegawa.

And yet this book is worth buying

Joel , here is the break down ...

Tamiya - 3 in 48 of the D . 2 in B and a D in 32 scale as well as 1 in 72 scale

Hasegawa - 1 in 48 scale and 1 in 72 scale both D models

Academy - 1 in 72 scale of the B model

Meng - 2

Trumpeter - 1 in 32 scale B model

Revell - 1 in 48 scale of the B .

And I plan on picking up 2 of the new Airfix kit this fall when it will be released . 2 of the Eduard kit once it is released next year . Also want to get Revells new tooled Mustang in 32 scale .

Terri,
I'd kill for a state of the art 1/32 B. None out there are really that accurate. I've hoped that Papa Tamiya or even ZM would issue one, as it would be an instant hit, but it sure doesn't look that way.

I would like to see a new tooled B version as well Joel . I love the Tamiya 48 scale kit , but that flipping floor !
Trumpeter's 32 scale kit is a head scratcher and the Aires wheel well resin replacement isn't correct either ! So I would rather see Tamiya do the B

Much agreed the P-51b/c is sorely under represented in not only 1/32 but 1/72 as well, albeit to a lesser extent.

Today was a capital day at the mailbox!
Not only the long awaited arrival of my WNW Br.1 Camel but also a Roden 1/72 Br.1 I picked for a decent price. I should be good on camels now, including my eduard 1/48 kits although I admit to being sorely tempted by WNWs 2F.1 ships camel. Perhaps in a few months

Yes, Terri, it's Hasegawa plastic with Eduard "magic" added. The plastic is very good with crisp and fine detail, no flash; also Cartograf decals, Eduard PE, resin etc.
If you want 1/48 Folgore, this is the way to go, but it's Limited edition, so grab one while still available. Hasegawa kits are very hard to find and expensive separately.

I'm looking for the Tamiya Ki-61 next

Mike,
Just wondering where you got the Sopwith Camel from. Mines been on pre-order since January second from Weta Workshop, and still no kit. I see Sprue Bros. Is also out of stock.

Hi Russ,
WNW sent out an email on Wednesday this week saying they were finally shipping the Camels to the distributors. I bought a Ship's Camel at the LHS yesterday mainly because they only mark them up a few bucks over the Weta price so I guess yours can't be far away.

cheers

Russ, I got mine from sprue brothers, they came in and were OOS within a day or so. From what I understand Weta consignment is still in transit via ship. One of the popular ebay vendors seems to have them in stock as of yesterday for $89 w/ free shipping which ends up being $3-4 cheaper than SB price plus shipping, at least for me in the philadelphia area.
