Hello All,
Has there been a Campaign for Civilian Planes only?
It would encompass any Purely Civilian plane such as: 727's, Airbus, Cessna's, etc. with most campaigns are about Warplanes (no offense, Great Campaigns) How about a break from Wars and have a little fun with some great private planes.
So what do all of you think? It would start next fall and run about 8 months.
Let me know if you would like to do a campaign like this.
Cheers,
Bruce

Smashing, we never see enough civil versions here. I was toying with an idea "Swords into Ploughshares"
Military planes used in a civil context. So would a Reno racer or a demilitarised Dakota count.
As long as it is civilian registered?

Hi Bruce
I'd definitely be interested if the timing's right with other commitments. Like JP says - we don't see nearly enough civil stuff.
All the best

Hello All,
I would allow some demilitarize planes in the campaign. What would be on the No list would be Fighters, Some Bombers, Dive Bombers, Torpedo planes, ETC.
The Dakota was the DC-3 before the war so that would be OK. I know that some US Companies bought B-24 for use by the Company Execs to travel around.
Lets kick the idea a round and think what the rules should be. The start date would be November 1, 2010 and run for 8 months(?) or so.
Let me know what other ideas you would have for the rules and regs.
Cheers,
Bruce

Hi Bruce
The start date sounds great to me.
As regards subjects, I'd be tempted to say if we're going to make this a Civilian Build, let's do it properly. So "civilian, first and foremost" - if an aircraft was also later adopted by the military, that's fine, but any purely military types later de-militarised for private ownership wouldn't count. Therefore, no warbirds or souped-up racing versions of WW2 fighters, or B-26s with luxury seats.
Now, where did I put that Planet Models Hughes Racer?...
All the best

Hello Rowan,
I am inclined to agree with you, But would we get enough people to make this campaign doable? If the majority of the people who want this campaign to be a purely civilian campaign, It is OK with me.
Lets see how it turns out with the other modelers who might want to do the campaign.
Thanks for your input.
Cheers,
Bruce

I'm interested, I still get mocked from time to time, ha ha, by a certain friend who says if you want to know something about a civilian bird talk to Russell! Ha ha indeed. Sounds like a great campaign, I love the military stuff but it's nice to build civil every now and then. Russell

I don't have a problem making this a civilian only campaign, but it would in effect rule out some really great....not to mention colorful planes. The race circuit had some awsome P-51's and Corsairs etc. And there are some really cool decal sheets available for the old surplus sea planes and a few for the converted bombers that are still in service today as water tankers for fire fighting.
Just a thought.

Hello Justin,
What type of helo and is it a military version? I know that most of the Coast guard Helo's are arrned for drug enforcement and anti-terrorism missions. If that is not the case, then I do not see any reason why Helo's are not allowed for the campaign.
What say all of you, Should Helicopters be allowed in the campaign?
Cheers,
Bruce

Hi Bruce
I'd vote to include helos, and gliders too - anything that's civil aviation. The reason I'd go for purely civil aircraft is the chance it would offer to see some totally different kits on Aeroscale, rather than the usual cast in new guises (I think that would make a great Campaign in its own right ).
All the best

Civilian helos would be fine. There are plenty of private helos and the one's serving the gas and oil rigs. The helo used by the 'flying gardner' is a cool looking piece of machinery.

Hello All,
Helicopters and gliders are in, With one notice: They may not have been designed for military use first or converted for use by the military. Is that OK with everyone?
This Campaign will be a purely Civilian Aircraft Only Campaign. Is this OK with everyone?
Are my proposed rules OK with everyone? Speak Now or forever hold your peace.
Let me know if any of you have any Thoughts, Questions or concerns about this campaign.
Cheers,
Bruce

Im pretty sure Im in on this campaign too...i found a great eurocopter kit by Revell on the net ..its a rescue chopper and its yellow and black .....it should be an interesting painting exercise, and a break from greys and greens !
Either that, or id like to do the traffic helicopter that a TV station in Toronto used during the late 70s...

Alright Bruce, that's enough!! How am I supposed to recover from this campaign addiction with you coming up with all of these cool campaign ideas!!
Just kidding, I will join this one as well as soon as it becomes official.
I will be building a 1/48 Piper Cub J-3.
Thanks,
HARV
PS. I will answer your question here as well. I have completed or are currently enlisted in four of your campaigns. That doesn't include this one or your future Blitzkrieg campaigns!!
