Looking really good Leo!
What scheme are you going to do?
To answer your question about spraying white, I just apply many light coats ad let it dry a bit inbetween. At first you can hardly see it, and very gradually build up the coverage. That way you dont end up with any pooling or ridges.
Slowly and gradually is the key.
I havent done anything on "Rozzie Geth" since the photos were taken as I'm trying to finish a VFS 1:24th scale P-47 for a show next weekend.
All the best,
Nige

Wow, looks beautiful, Damian. That is one good looking lady in the dark.
Nigel, impressive masking!! Looks really nice. Have you noticed how many Thunderbolts there are in this campaign - I guess a really big canvas helps when one has to draw a nice lady.
I have also made a little more progress on my bird. I also managed to find a picture in one of my books of the real thing. Always nice to have a reference picture to go by.
Main colours are on. Next is some touch ups and then some decals. More to follow soon.

Close to finished now, the Lady has all of her gizmo's and gadgets attached, a superb set of True Details resin wheels holding her up, and a flat coat applied. Some silvering has popped up on the code latters on the tail so some touch-ups will be required there, and I will do some weathering on the leading edges and cowls and some exhaust stains. Hoping to wrap this one up today !!
Cheers, D

Thanks for the comments, guys.
Cool picture, Nige. Nice to see the pin-u... I mean the Jug(s) from the other side as well.
Very nice job, Damian. You should be proud of that one. Looking forward to see it finished with all the details in place.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the comments. I got some weathering done today, and locked it in place with another coat of clear.
All I want to do now is sparay on some exhaust stains and give her a light wash of grey/brown.
EDIT: Oops, and yellow tips on the props, d'oh !!
Cheers, D

Damian, great work on the P-61! I have heard people say that the Northrop design isn't a very pretty machine, I've always disagreed with that assessment! Great work again! Russell

Man, there's some really nice planes being worked on here! Good thing I got delayed on mine so i'm still around to see this.
That widdow is awesome!!!! A real pig to build though, am I right? Well, I#m used to shake and bake...
Here's what I did between getting back my health again and going back to work:
Thanks for the nice comments a few days ago!
Nigel, as you see, it'll be Yankee Tarheel of the 405 F.G. Did the blue bands, even though I would have loved the whites like yours But that woud have been boring, right?
Question: you see the left borders of the star and bar? All the markings in my decal sheet are like this. Also the instructions depict them like that.
Is it correct? Doesn't have the rim to be closed?
Thanks, my friends. See you soon!

Well I'm happy to say I'm calling the Lady complete !! I used some pastel powder for the exhaust stains and braid fishing line for the aerial wires, a final coat of clear flat and here she is . . . . . .
. . . . . and YES, I have painted the propellor tips yellow since these pics were taken.
Thanks guys for all of your positive comments, it means a lot to me !!
@ Leo, it wasn't that bad to put together in general, a little bit of strategic trimming and sanding and the main sub-assemblies were quite good. The worst part was the glass. The front cabin canopy in particular wasn't a good fit.
I apologise for the crappy pics, I'm still without a decent camera so the phone is a poor substitute. I'll post some better pics ASAP.
@ Justin, magnificent Campaign mate, I'd be perfectly happy to see this as an annual event !! I have 6 more P-61's and 6 sets of Pin-Up nose art, so I'm set for a few years
Cheers all, D
