D, Lady in the Dark is looking mighty fine. LOVE the cockpit and all the drybrushing you've done so far.

Hermon

Thanks 'Cuda. Next step is a bit of a wash through the office to tone things down and blend them a bit, then lock her up !! Initial dry-fit fo the wings looks pretty good.

Your P-39 is looking mighty sweet mate !! I love the faded OD, but did you do a faded base-coat and then darker overspray, or vice-versa ? Hmmmm, maybe some areas are just a thinner coat than others over the primer. Either way, superb job my friend.

Cheers, D

Thanks guys!
D, the faded look is just thinner paint in certain spots. I'm planning to go back and lighten them up a bit more later.

Here's a pic with the decals on. Only a few tiny decals left, then another coat of Future. Should be ready to apply the flat coat tomorrow and tidy up all the little bits.

Hi

I was just wondering if it was too late to enlist in the campaign? If not, and with your OK, I will enlist in the morning.

I would like to do Spitfire Vb (EN921), of 401 SQN. RCAF, which flew out of Biggin Hill in 1943. This aircraft carried a very playful rendering of a nude women just forward of the windscreen.

Thanks. Guy

Whoa, Justin...that is one beautiful looking P-40! I thought I was a quick builder (well - OOB usually goes fast ) but man, you've blown me outta the water. Great job.

Damian, your interior detailing is really looking great. I hope you don't mind, but I am going to steal every one of your ideas and techniques for my build...it's really an inspiration.

Michael, I sure hope you can stick with that idea, I would love to see it built. It's a gorgeous plane, and the scheme really rocks. Is there a kit with those decals included, or would you need an A.M. set?

Hermon, super job. Your pre-shading really comes through on the one pic. I'd hate to go against you and Justin in a race build - you're inches from the finish line, too!

Everyone is really moving along, and all I've done is snip and clean a few parts...guess I'd better get in gear.

Cheers,
Mike

Justin, man you are a MACHINE !!! That P-40 is really well done mate, and well worthy of the Pin-Ups banner !! Now, it seems that you have time to build about 15 more kits for this Campaign, so what's next ??

Mj, thanks for the compliment, I'm happy with the progress so far also. I have to give credit to pretty much every contributor on Aeroscale for the way my builds are going now, 6 months ago there's no way I could turn out anything near to that quality. In fact I probably wouldn't have even known where to start. In particular for this build I have been taking inspiration from Torsten (BlackWidow) with his 2 1/48 P-61 builds for my Boom Boom Campaign.

Cheers, D

A super looking P-40 Justin. Congradulations.

When no-one was looking, I went ahead and enlisted. As I said previously, I'll be doing a 401 Sqn. RCAF Spitfire Vb, which carried Pin-Up markings. I'll be using the WaterMark AM decals shown below:

The kit I've chosen is the Hasegawa SpitKit of the Vb as shown below:

Hoping this is alright. Guy

Well what a FEEBLE excuse. At your average pace that should take about 3 days. You are supposed to lead by example Mr Campaign Leader man, so either get some Pin-Up markings for your XOS P-38, or fire something else up !!

Nice job on the P-40N, Justin. I hope you find time to do another entry (I won't!

I've settled on my entry:
P-38H "Thoughts of Midnight" using the 1/48 Hasegawa kit plus Pyn-Up decals. It's about time I got around to doing one of the P-38's in my stash!

Hey Everyone, just some observations:

@ Herman: Nice P-39 WOW! is that a bullet weight in the nose?

@ Tom: Your Thoughts of Midnite P-38H should look good with a nose as proud as that.

@ Justin: What can I say, a P-40N that whispers Daddy Please.

@ Andy: That P-47N engine is going to purr nicely once finished and adorned.

@ Michael: I like it that you reached back to WWI to show that patriotism was plastered on the a/c then.

@ D: P-61, Black, Lady In The Dark, do you think that had anything to do with your internet?

@ Sam: A B-17 and my favorite color OLIVE DRAB I could not have asked for anything more. It will be a great build.

OK, I'm calling her done!
Sorry for the bad photos but time is something I'm lacking recently and I had to take advantage of a few minutes of down time. So, here she is.

Robert, yes that's a bullet I used for a weight in the nose....9mm actually. I made some boo-boos on this one but it seems good enough.

Herman: nice! job on the cobra, I can only imagine the masking for the white. The comment regarding the bullet is because the eyesight is not what it was and I just guessed. Again nice! job Herman.
