@mrockhill, Your Zeke is looking great. You are building Tora one-ten, CO of the 261st NAG?
Indeed I am! Ive decided to sidestep most of the controversy surrounding this aircraft and attempt to depict it much earlier than its near derelict state in the one known photo of it (at least as far as I know).

Andy---thanks for the kind words. Hope you get your 32 scale F-4---it's a great kit to build!! It's a shame there's not a Rolls Royce Spey version in -32 because I love those monstrous intakes.
Mike---Love your Zero. I wouldn't sweat the gloss coat darkening your finish. When you flat it out the flat coat will bring the finish back to where you started and negate the darkening effect.
Metodi---great looking -39. Airacobra has to be one of the best looking prop fighters ever made.
Finished all the sub-assembly work on the Phantom and the plane is now up on it's landing gear. Have to shade my panel lines and get the rest of the sub-assemblies attached to the airplane. Will be on schedule for the deadline. Hopefully my VF-302 patch will get here in the mail on time for the final pictures.

Ian,
Thanks for the encouragement on the finish, Its been a while since Ive take the time to get a build this far and have forgotten alot about how it all unfolds.
Your F-4 is still looking great, the landing gear are almost life like!
lots of great looking builds going on around here

That Messerschmitt 110 is fantastic to look at!! Great work there. I really enjoy the colors. Is that RLM 71/72 over 65? Just curious. Russell

Hey Russ, I used MM enamels, 70/71/65, which seem to depart from every other manufacturers take on those colors. But it's what I have plenty of and I'm working on a "Fighters of the Battle of France" project and want to be consistent.
Thanks for the compliment, BTW.

Your welcome, that Me 110 is one of the sharpest I've seen on here. I especially like it because 1/72 is the scale I predominately work in. Russell

Hey Ian, ever considered scratch building the "obvious" details; burner cans and such? How hard could it be?
She looks great so far and I'm looking forward to seeing your completed build!
I'm working on the 1/32 Revell Phantom, converting it to a G, she'll be a 1980s Spangdhalem bird...eventually.

Beautiful -110. Very crisp finish and your panel mine work is beautiful. Thanks for the compliment on the -4S. It has been a fun build so far. As far as a RR Spey conversion on a Tamiya -J, that would be a massive undertaking. The big intakes and the burner cans would be the least of my worries. The underside of the Spey birds is completely different. Didn't notice it until I built a FGR.2 in 48th scale and compared it to an -N I had done in the same scale. The Spey Phantoms look like a pregnant beluga whale underneath because the fuselage droops down so much. I think Jessica's link pretty much sums up what a taxing conversion this would be. Converting this one from a -J to an -S was taxing enough! Anyway, I will quit rambling. Great work by everyone in this crew.
Best wishes, Ian

Hello everyone.
A lot of great builds going on here. I have finally got a couple of my other projects finished and I'm ready to start my fighter.
I have a Lindberg Me-262 kit. I'll have to say, its not overly detailed and I'm not sure if the accuracy is all that great, but it does look like a 262.
I bought the kit mainly for airbrush practice, and as such the build will be straight OOB and we will see how it goes.
Don't know if I'll finish in time or not, but it should be a fun quick build.

Delbert, you took the ideas right out of my head
I also have been thinking about using an old Lindberg kit just to practice all types of airbrushing techniques just was not brave enought to pull the trigger until now. Thanks.

Well,
Lots of sanding and filling and sanding some carving but it seems to be coming together.
The screens for the boom intakes are Verlinden as I lost one of each kind from the Eduard set
I hope to get primer on it in the morning then I can make a final decision on whether to go for a natural metal finish or not.
Cheers Rob.

Rob, great progress on the -38. It always seems there will be a lot of sanding and filling on any plane that has tail booms on it.
Best wishes, Ian

Thanks Ian,
I cut the shroud out of the cockpit(gives a better view of the panel) and finished building the nose, almost forgot to put weight in there.
Then more sanding, I don't know how many panel lines I've sanded off
will hopefully be done with the sanding Tomorrow and I can put back the panel lines.
Cheers Rob.

Hi,
It's been a while since my last update, because of another campaign I needed to finish first (and also because I am a slow builder
).
Congrats to all of you with finished builds - they are absolutely amazing!
To the rest of you: You are doing great progress!
I still have some work to do with my Eduard Bf 109E-3 1/48. That exposed engine is complicating things a bit (why do I always decide to make my life more difficult?)
Here are a few shots of the current state.
Next up is painting the RLM02 splotches before the crosses and ID marks will be painted on.
Cheers!
P.S. I hope none of you noticed, but I did not prime the model this time, because I was afraid it would hide all the beautiful rivets. So far this approach has not given me noticable problems - in fact it saved me a bit of time
Currently on the work bench:
Tamiya Gloster Meteor 1/48 - almost finished
Hasegawa Ju 87D Stuka 1/32 - soon to be painted
Eduard Lysander Mk III on skis 1/48 (stalled)
Revell Ju 88 1/32 (aftermarket items collected)

P-38 is looking good Rob I forgot the weight in the front end of one of my 1/72 P-38's once it found itself well and truly stuck to a base. I think I get used to building tail draggers and then when something turns up that has to have a nose wheel I just go on auto pilot
Hope you have not lost too many panel lines least favourite job is rescribing.
Ken the 109 is looking great. I have to admit sometimes I do not prime models depending on what sort of weather look I am going for. I only really tend to prime if I have had to do some seam tidying/ sanding/ filling to be sure its back to being smooth and not obvious

Kenneth----your -109 looks great. Very crisp looking splinter scheme.
Rob---Did you decide on NMF or OD over Grey?
I made some progress on the -4S yesterday in between copious amounts of NFL and "The Walking Dead". Got the last details in the cockpit done and added significant weathering to the canopy rails and floorboard. Got the panel lines shaded with Tamiya Smoke so I will get the airplane Futured today for decalling.
Regards, Ian

Kenneth, great looking 109. Will it be in early Polish campaign markings?
Mines slowly getting there. I gave it a good coat of tamiya white primer then for sake of speed I hand painted the white areas around the nose, wing tips and fuselage with a brand new pot tamiya acrylic white. Possibly the worst paint I have ever tried to hand paint with. Even thinned with tamiya's own thinner it dried WAY too quick and has left some brush marks. These aren't noticeable from a distance but up close they look horrible! After I've masked these out I'll stick with tried and trusted Humbrol enamel for the rest of the paint job. I've already made a start by painting some of the dangly bits in light blue.
I'll be putting the pedal to the metal on this one and hoping to have her fully painted by Friday.
On the bench: 1/72 Mosquito, Lightning F.6, DH.2,
AMT Vulcan Shuttle Surak.
Cyber-Hobby 1:35 Sherman Firefly IC - still stalled.

Exactly this hard
I ain't skeered!
Lemme see, I'll need a saw, bucket-o-putty, two tons of plastic sheet, a gallon of CA, 100 sheets of sand paper (assorted grits), six months build time, three gallons of booze and two-years in therapy. Not a problem...

I am not sure three gallons of booze would be enough for that conversion!!!!!!!
Best wishes, Ian
