Hi all
thanks for the comments guys
heres more pics

I use washes from the detailer, these are the best I've ever used soooooo easy to work with in a great range of colours aswell.
After the wash has dried, about 10 mins just clean up with a damp cotton bud.
Job done
gear fixed, canopy on some toning down and some staining with Tamiya smoke,Roberts your mums brother!

I've really enjoyed building this kit I've not done this classic aircraft since I was a small boy, this was an OOB build the next one will be "accessories all areas!!!"
I think Trumpy do a big one so I could go nuts on that!
Hope you like
Andy

Staying true to my M.O., I built an Airfix 1/72 Bf110C for this group build but didn't take any in progress pics (oopsy!). But I'll post some of the finished model ASAP.

I'm also working on a Trumpeter 1/72 F-100D, it's in "the paint booth". I'll post images of that one too.

Thanks Russell. The Academy Tomahawk is probably not the most detailed kit around but it was easy to build with no fit issues and even though I used some aftermarket decals the ones supplied with the kit were excellent. The shark mouth is from the kit and it went on without a hitch.

John---Good looking P-40. I have always thought the -40 was a vastly under-appreciated fighter. Glad you put this one in the limelight!

Andy---The Lightning is beautiful. The blue and NMF really makes for an eye-catching scheme.

I continued work on the F-4S. Most of the sub-assemblies are completed, barring the landing gear. Also finished up the panel lines and post-shading as well. Should have the gear bays painted and weathered this weekend and I am scratchbuilding the reinforcement spar for the under side of the airplane since it is an S-model.

Best wishes, Ian

Ian, the Phantom looks ready to fly almost! Good work. I am actually planning on opening the box on my kit and seeing if I can finish one in the time remaining. I have gone back and forth whether to build the Japanese aircraft I wanted to build in the beginning or build a jet. I am leaning, once more to a quick build of the Tamiya 1/72 scale Kawanishi Shiden-Kai "George". We will see. Russell

leading edge ID stripes are on! I managed to buff out the tape residue from last session with a soft cotton rag and dove right into the yellow stripes. Like before I got a few tiny bleeds and some light over spray, nothing a few minutes wont take care of. My only gripe is that the port wing strip is .25 -.5mm thicker than the starboard, but with a looming deadline and a busy schedule Im soldiering on. Got 7 more zeroes in the stash anyway, no need for perfection now

Mike----great looking Zero and outstanding post shading.

Russell----Thanks!!!

I did a Hawkeyes Hobbies Powder treatment on the natural metal areas of the F-4S last night. Also built the landing gear and I finished scratchbuilding the underside stiffener plate so my "Sierra" does not disintegrate in-flight.

Best wishes, Ian

A couple of more progression shots on the F-4S from today. I added a Future/Acrylic Black Paint wash to the wheel bays and vents and then followed up with numerous fluid leaks from the access panels on the under side. Also painted the wheels and gear doors which also received a wash treatment. The fueslage stiffener was test fitted as well and I will paint that tonight.

RAM ON !!!!!!

Regards, Ian

Metodi,
Nice clean airframe on your Aircobra.

Tim,
Your 110 is coming along nicely.

Dave,
F-15 looks great! My favorite jet.

Steffen,
Nice.

Mike,
Zero looks good nice job on the paint.

Andrew,
D.VII is looking good.

Ian,
F-4 looks to be coming along nicely.

Andy,
Very nicely done EE Lightning!

John,
Nice job on the paint for your P-40! It came out great!

Nick,
F-18 is great! So small.

I have not got a lot done lost the film piece for the instruments and have been looking for that
Started cleaning the seams up, one spot was really bad had to carve off a mm or more behind the wing. So there is some panel scribing in my future don't know about the metal finish though.

Cheers Rob.

Got my gloss coat on with few issues but Im not thrilled with how dark my green got. I expected it to darken but not this much. Im not going to strip her down and start again, no time and it will definitely kill my momentum. So at worst its a lesson so In the mean time I can try to do some creative weathering that hopefully make this bird look not so dark and factory fresh. Im not shooting for a barely flying wreck, just "used". Im open to suggestions

That is something I have real sympathy for, especially after successfully masking those stripes. The compound I used was Modelstrip, and it worked perfectly to leave the Fokker ready for painting again. However I had a lot more time than you and a worse condition. Keep at it, maybe a light grey wash, I don't know, weathering isn't really my thing.
Like the F4, looks great, and the Lightning reminded me of watching one scorch down the runway at Woodford, before standing on her tail and disappearing vertically. Got an F Mk6 in the stash, one day.....

Simmon, nice F-86. You did a good job on it. Natural metal airplanes are tricky. Well done!

Some great builds here. Afraid my has slowed down at the painting stage. I really need to give it a good coat or two of white primer given the very prominent white tips, nose and tail band. But with the really bad weather this last week or so I have been unable to get out to do the job, and spraying indoors is not a good idea!
With a little luck and maybe a sacrifrice or two to the rain gods I'm hoping to get that done this week. Then its a simple hand paint from then on.
I'll keep everyone posted.
